With science, technology has been and also growing up at a very high rate. One of the major ways in how the tech ology has changed the current world is through the sector of communication. Communication is made daily by the individuals, and so the scientist decided to make it more efficient. It means science has modified the means on how individuals communicate, especially when they are a distance apart from each other. Initially, scientists came up with the use of mobile phones that was successful in making communication worldwide. The method was later developed, and currently, they have made everything simple by modifying these mobile phones daily up to reaching the level they are at of "smartphones." Smartphones have eased everything at the moment. The communication has been made quick as well as simple worldwide. “Not only can an individual make the calls, they can as well send the texts that are modified to be supper quick from the sender to the receiver. Smart phones have been used in different events including the event management.” (Rather, et al. pg. 135) The majority of individuals argue that smartphones have destroyed the current generation. They argue that unlike the teens of the earlier generation, the current teens have lost all their minds on smartphones. As a way of justifying this, they argue that the current generation has committed all their attention on social media that has been powered by smartphones.
Do the individuals who claim that smartphones have ruined the generation, right? Has the smartphone for sure destroyed the generation? In this paper, all of this will be answered. Meanwhile, there is no clear point to support that smartphones have ruined our generation. Therefore, this paper will show how smartphones have been of importance to the current generation despite the argument that they are ruining the current generation.
Firstly, we are in an evolving world that has supported and shown that education is essential to all individuals. The smartphones have eased the way how the teens, as well as the learners, relate to each other. Smartphones have been used to access the online learning material. "Smartphones offer endless possibilities for higher engagement, enhancement of student understanding and extension of learning beyond the classroom, particularly if a student doesn’t have internet at home or attends a school where 1:1 is not an option. Smartphones also provide an easy way for teachers to facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity” (Fjortoft et al. pg. 180). Therefore, education has been enhanced worldwide to our generation through the use of smartphones.
Secondly, smartphones have eased the means of communication not only to individuals near you but also worldwide. The phones that have been existing there before allowed individuals to communicate through calls as well as texts. The smartphones have been modified and can now do more than that. The current generation can make video conferencing and chatting as a result of plenty of options included on the smartphone. All have been made in one gadget. "Gone are the days when businessmen have to carry around a bag full of devices like a PDA, mp3 player, camera, e-book reader and GPS device. With a smartphone, you have everything you need all in one gadget. No additional carrying burden, just a portable device gives you all the functionality one would need, in a single device." (Jean, pg. 9)
Conclusion
In conclusion, despite the discussed methods, numerous other reasons can justify that smartphones have not destroyed our generation; instead, they have eased everything and brought the new generation close together. The use of the smartphone inexperience has emphasized on education. To use these new gadgets, you need to be educated. Therefore, most teens in the generation have looked forward to getting educated on how to be literate. As the paper aim was, I hold that from the arguments in the paper, the smartphones have not destroyed our generation; rather, they have been of a positive impact. As it is always usual, everything has its negative impacts, but, in comparison, smartphones have more positive impacts than the negative impacts.
