Nawah Energy Company was established in 2016. It will maintain and operate Units 1 to 4 at the Barakah Nuclear Energy Plant. Nawah's strategy aims at harnessing nuclear power to offer sustainable, clean, reliable, and safe supply of "low-carbon electricity all through the UAE for economic and social development. At the same time, it will generate approximately 5600 MW of energy supplying twenty-five percent of UAE's electrical needs. The company is working towards providing reliable and safe power from nuclear sources. It relies on safety as its overriding priority and commitment to the highest international standards. At the same time, it will reduce UAE's carbon emission by over 21 million tons yearly.

The company is a multicultural and multinational entity, focusing on nuclear energy generation. It was established after signing of an agreement between Nawah's Shareholders, the Korea Electric Power Corporation (18 percent) and the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (82 percent). Its vision statement is to be globally recognized as a top operator of nuclear. Its mission statement is to generate efficient, reliable, and safe nuclear power for the growth of UAE At the same time, its responsibility, teamwork engagement, integrity, and accountability are all engrained in its operational activities to harness and produce reliable and safe energy.

The Nawah Integrated Management System is a system that aims at helping all employees of the company to make the practical decision making. It defines the company's organizational goals towards achieving its vision. The Nawah IMS is following all international and regional laws and regulations.

Overview of the IMS

Its chief mission is to deliver nuclear power to meet the regions energy demands. The body has responsibility over the construction, ownership, and design of the first-ever plant.

Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO)

KEPCO has responsibility over the generation, transmission, and distribution of electric power in addition to the growth of all related power projects that entail coal, energy, and nuclear. It has elaborate research capabilities, business engagement, and technological development, SCR, and investment projects. It is recognized as the leading body in energy efficiency, reliability, and safety. It has a reliable and reputable nuclear power plant record that complies with international quality standards.

Major Stakeholders

Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR)

FANR was enacted in the year 2009 and protected the public, workers, and the environment. The company achieves this by undertaking nuclear regulatory measures that include safety, inspection, and licensing.

IAEA is the leading central intergovernmental agency in the nuclear field. It works for safety, peaceful, and secure nuclear science technology. It works with the United Nations member states towards promoting friendly, secure, and safe techniques. It is focused on addressing issues revolving around development achievements and goals for all its member states.

World Association of Nuclear Operators (WANO)

WANO brings together all countries with nuclear operations to achieve the highest level of standards and safety. The body produces this by way of highly designed programs that include operating experience, peer reviews, and technical support. It mainly helps in effective communication strategies. It cuts across major countries with headquarters in Hong Kong and London; it has regional offices in Paris, Tokyo, Atlanta, and Moscow. The body ensures that member states undertake strict measures on their operations to meet set standards. The same strategy extends to other nations and companies through peer reviews.

Institute for Nuclear Power Operators (INPO)

INPO Aims at promoting reliability and safety, promote excellence in operational power centers. It achieves this by establishing performance objectives and detailed evaluations of nuclear plants. The institute commits to a long-term strategy that provides for means and ways of fulfilling its 2023 mission statement. INPO takes great emphasis on establishing high standards in deployment and construction.

Nuclear Energy

Nuclear energy refers to energy produced during nuclear reactions. When nuclear reactions occur, energy is created, and special bonds form through the fusion process. Under the fusion process, a large amount of energy is produced in which case atomic nuclei are split into small particles. The nuclear fission powers the sun. A power plant thus applies nuclear fusion in the production of electricity. The energy is used for electricity generation that includes consumer product, desalination, scientific research, space exploration, and medical usage.

Nuclear power plants depend on the fission reaction to generate power. Energy realized from nuclear provides approximately 11 percent of the global electric produced over 31 different nations with over 75 percent supply.

How Nuclear Power Plant Work

Nuclear power plant produces power as other power plants create. The only significant difference is the fuel that is applied. Electricity plants produce heat, turning water to steam. The steam powers a turbine to a generator, thus producing electricity. Uranium is used in the plant as fuel. In a given nuclear reactor, the atoms from uranium split into small units and change their molecule structure through the fission process. The energy produced in the process produces steam that is applied to the generator-machine and generates electricity.

The entire nuclear fission procedure operates efficiently in the production of power. For example, one uranium particle is capable of producing energy equal to 1 ton of coal. Nuclear is a friendly method of generating electricity. They do not harm the environment and does not create any gas emissions.
