Ethical Dilemma

Deontological Principles

‘Nightcrawler 2014” movie is a crime thriller, which features a thief, Lou Bloom, whose calling relies on taking crime and accident scenes and selling them to Los Angeles local news channels. Bloom, in his work he captures events of murder, chaos, and clashes. He is dedicated to producing profitable new at any cost. The protagonist is not afraid to go to the extreme to achieve his goal and that of any broadcasting station. The protagonist, however, in his professionalism, defies the odds and by going against social and ethical boundaries to capture a story. The act of benefiting from the misfortunes of others is regarded as immoral and taints the excellent image of a person. There are also many forging of connections with various local news outlets that became dependent on the available news and use them to lure other audiences (Henderson 133). The actions Lou Bloom portrayed by Lou Bloom in the movie are a subject to morality killing, and most of them interfere with the privacy of many. The choice to sell the victims footage by Lou Bloom and raising suspicion among the police is a clear indication that the film adversely failed to follow the correct focus. “Nightcrawler 2014” feels so real through the media depiction and how events are turned by agencies to make a difference and improve their ratings. It deviates from the civilized society and makes people feel about themselves as opposed to a community or societal feeling. Before watching the movie, it is worth noting that it presents numerous ethical issues in journalism.

According to deontological principles that focus on truth saying, the movie jeopardizes other news bodies' rights by failing to adhere to the stipulated ethics that govern them. Kant argues that failing to apprehend truth exposes the exhibited work to massive setbacks and fails to achieve the outlined threshold. The film is also provoking as it raises concerns about the fact that it has been unable to be seen in most media platforms in the recent past. The advantage incidents and the untrue graphical coverage in the movie depict the dangers that of culture deterioration. For instance, Bloom digests more culture and regurgitates them to people without an imminent focus on their impact on the overall mortality.

What the Journalist Chose

Dan Gilroy's “Nightcrawler 2014" is a classic film due to its mercilessly exact tone. The journalist makes exceptional use of sound, editing, and mise-en-scène to attract the audience's attention in the everyday electronic media web, which it crawls upon. Though the approach is unthinkable due to its new authenticity, it provides a wide range of focus. It helps other novice viewers follow the incidences as they unfold from the movie (Patterson et al. .12). The film's narrative perspective hovers in the moral ambiguity Netherland. Similarly, the film is also told from Bloom’s point-of-view, as opposed to its inhibited character. It is tuned to misery and anxiety of the humiliated people by the main character to validate the comic part of the piece. Regardless of the approach to making Bloom cross into criminality to make a significant shift in incidences' flow, it increases the film's ambiguity by revealing plenty of ethical dilemmas. Gilroy's movies are more than an ethical wilderness exposure of the corporate media but a refutable consumption that depends on the actions evident in various platforms for the formation of a moral society. Overall, the "Nightcrawler" film is based on the untrue story to enhance its beauty.

What I would choose

Regardless of the approach that Dan Gilroy tries to adopt for the success of the film, the tabloid journalism does not count as a significant breaking news flash, but slightly interested in issues that are already known. I believe that the film's focus would have been better if the journalist makes good use of a balanced tone and maintains an objective standpoint that shapes up a good movie instead of relying on incidences beyond an original piece. The selection of primitive cultures in photographs to steal the audience's attention was never a necessity, and the journalist ought to focus on a true story to create a sound and concrete movie.

Additionally, as opposed to choosing an untrue story, I would have preferred a true story and addresses the issues that affect social media in an in-depth manner. This will allow help in eliminating problems associated with avoiding watching news content because of unfamiliar graphical coverage. Moreover, as opposed to maintaining the provoking nature of the film as a way of essential rating questions about new media today, I will choose less exaggerated judgments in journalism to make it attractive and appealing to viewers. Overall, in terms of photos, I will ensure that they represent the actual situation and not interfere with reality.

Conclusion

"Nightcrawler 2014" has met production goals as it manages to invoke attention from the audience as well as reflect issues surrounding media houses' journalisms. By watching the film, one begins to question journalism's credibility and ethics, a common issue in the media houses. Nightcrawler, however, is a good representation of modern journalism exaggeration and ethical standards.
