Michaels first marriage did not end well as he and his wife later divorced after which he married the former Ogniana Drandyska. His children; one son, Sean Masser and two daughters, Aleksandra Rouschkolb and Jennifer Convery. Seemingly, Mr Masser was able to live the perfect life with his excellent job with his office at the top of the Pan Am Building and his farm in Vermont plus his nine-room apartment. He, however, has an interest something else far from his regular stockbroker job. He wanted to switch and adjust his career, and after a visit to a shrink, he was able to clear his mind and hop to what he had always wanted; writing music.

His genius in music was discovered in the early 70s when he started composing ballads with the epic sweep. He gained success working with Whitney Houston (Sweeting, 2015). Most of these were able to make it to the top charts. His ballads carried a soft rock underpinning, and most were discovered fully by the then soul singers such as Diana Ross with "it's my turn," "theme from mahogany" and "Touch Me in The Morning." Touch me in the morning was able to hit the number one on the billboards single charts for 21 weeks. Most of his work and success became known as he was working with Diana Ross at Motown. His genre of music included the urban R&B.

Other successful releases include the ones with Whitney Houston when they began their collaboration to produce hits that catapulted her to her fame. Among these include "the greatest love of all," "saving all my love." And "didn't we almost have it all?". His other hits as a writer include Glen Medeiros "Miss You Like Crazy." "Tonight, I Celebrate My Love for You" with Mr Goffin (Roberts, 2015). He also wrote for others such as Neil Diamond, Teddy Pendergrass, Jeffrey Osborn and Natalie Cole.

Masser died on July 9, 2015, at his home in Rancho Mirage, California at the age of 74. His death was as a result of earlier complications of a stroke he had suffered. He was buried at Mount Sinai Memorial Park Los Angeles, Los Angeles County, California, USA.
