Article 1

The article by Rykkje and Hjorth (2017) discusses the need to deal with the persistent challenge of doctors having to meet with patients. Occasionally, there is an inherent issue regarding whether medical professionals can handle all the different demands for treatment. There is the possible use of technology at home, such as video communications between the medical personnel and the patients. For this particular research, respondents who were doctors and patients involved in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) were engaged in an experiment to review the practicality of using the video technologies to treat patients from home. Indeed, the study showed that doctor visits could reduce significantly where healthcare practitioners engage patients from the comfort of their homes. Such action ensures that the patients can get timely treatment and avoid the risk of infecting other patients within the healthcare facilities.

Safety at home is an issue that continues to draw a lot of international attention, especially as hospitals become overcrowded. Currently, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made treatment at home necessary. Similarly, it is practical to minimize hospital visits, where doctors can treat most of the conditions remotely. Health practice is about ensuring that the patient can get timely care and treatment to save a life. Where technology is used, it is possible to ensure that professionals handle the patient in the same manner that they would have been while at the hospital. Check-ups and hospital visits can thus apply to cases where treatment is necessary. As such, the need to support efforts to treat patients via video link has become vital. Optimally, the development of better treatment techniques can only take advantage of the existing technologies. One of these technologies is the use of information and communication technology.

Article 2: Putting Technology in Youth Mental Health Practice

The article discusses the importance of technology in mental health among youth in society today. The primary concerns addressed in the article include; the importance of monitoring activities on social media and other channels where the youth are often engaged. The youth needs to accept treatment but hardly is it possible to convince them of their issues (Montague et al., 2015). To convince a young person about discussing their social problems, it is essential for medical professionals to engage in the debates youth have online. The article also calls for increased support for youth opinions on mental treatment. It is vital to get the perceptions youth to have on how to handle mental treatment. As such, it becomes possible to deal with the issues from an informed point of view. Such concerns are especially necessary to deal with consistent mental issues in modern society.

The increase in mental health concerns among youth is worrying. The trend is even more pronounced online, where many of these young people communicate their issues. Not only is it vital to ensure that the youth are treated for mental challenges, but that they are involved in the treatment process. Similarly, the article is clear on the need to ensure that on social media and on websites where the youth engage, medical practitioners participate. This can be the best way to assess the mental state of the participants. Thus, the article calls for increased participation of medical professionals on platforms that they did not consider to be sources of information. Much useful epidemiological information can be gathered from merely interacting with the youth from the point of view where they feel respected. On these platforms, they offer more information than in actual hospitals.
