Introduction
I think that the most crucial part of an interview is the first impression that one gives to the recruiter. It more or less defines an individual before they are given a chance to express themselves by the recruiter. The impression is majorly determined by the individual's code of dressing and the general etiquette before the interview begins (Gale, Ooms, Grant, Paget, & Marks-Maran, 2016)
Nurse Dressing for an Interview Code
The choice of clothes should ensure one remains neat and well groomed. One should aim at maintaining neutral colors and simple design. Ladies could wear a decent dress or a skirt alongside with a blouse and a tie. It is also paramount to ensure that the hair and fingernails are kept. One should avoid wearing bracelets or religious crosses. It is essential to cover any visible body tattoos or any such body drawings (Zimmermann, 1997)
Tell Me About Yourself?
I am a self-driven individual with excellent skills in time management. I can work under minimal supervision and duly execute my duties. I have voluntary worked in a mental health care facility where I offered nursing services to mentally challenged patients. Through this, I have learned to deal with the challenges that occur during the line of duty. I am highly motivated when I see my patients recover from illness, a factor that encourages me to deliver more in this profession.
What Do You See as Your Greatest Strengths and Why?
I have a good listening ability that helps me to put myself in my patients' shoes ideally. I believe nothing is disappointing than not having someone to listen to you whenever you are in pain. The skill has enabled me to discern the issues with my patients and helped me in coming up with the best remedies for such patients.
What Do You See as your Greatest Weakness and Why? What are you doing to Turn this Weakness into a Strength?
The reason as to why I choose nursing is because of the patient caring ability it grants me. It has seen me get emotionally moved, especially in events where a patient in my care fails to recover. It, at times, kills my self-esteem and makes me question myself a lot. I am learning to accept that some things are just beyond my control, and the only thing I can do is deliver the best nursing services to my patients.
Tell me about a Time you had had to Handle a Difficult Patient or Peer Conflict in the Work Place. How would you Have Done it Differently?
I was offering medical care to a bedridden patient. The patient had been sick for quite a while and after some time became so violent towards me. He refused to take his medication and his food and claimed that I failed to offer him quality services. I requested the manager to reassign me from that patient and assign a different nurse. I feel that I should have taken some time to study the reason as to why the patient had gone violent all of a sudden and come up with ways to help the patient overcome his situations.
What Question Do You Have for the Recruiter?
Nursing, like any other work, is subject to workplace violence during the line of duty, how does your organization deal with such issues? What is your conflict resolution plans, and how are nurses affected by workplace violence compensated? (Zimmermann, 1997).
