There had been several battles in the deliverance war before 1775, and few colonists anticipated full independence from Great Britain. Individuals who actively participated were perceived as radicals in the fight for freedom. By the mid of 1776, many more colonists were ready to attain independence, and many nations had turned hostile against Britain. The inventions and innovations in explosives have also impacted the manner in which men celebrate the day.
