As an immigrant, we usually face numerous obstacles. The first one being the language barrier, we can not articulate ourselves correctly using the language that other people in the united states use. I remember my first day in high school; most of my classmates spoke the language, but for me, on the contrary, it was a different thing altogether Albanian being my first language, and at this instance, I felt like an outsider, left out. This was very difficult, I felt shy and was not willing to write anything, but I never gave up.
And during this time in highs school, the only thing I could turn to was soccer. Though this game, I can express myself and show the rest of the school and classmates that although I cannot speak English properly, I can express myself through the art of football. Sport has been a part of my life entirely. I started playing soccer since I was a young boy. I remember my first experience at the football peach; I was excited I could not wait to start playing this fantastic game that I saw my friend and relatives playing. I was small seven or less, I believe. This feeling was like being given a keyboard or a piano set, and you cannot wait to start pressing the flashy thing. But wait, the soccer coach asked to be to run in the sidelines and master the basics.
After a couple of months, the coach promised me that I was going to make the team in the next game. The excitement I can still remember. Being sent on the football peach for the first time, although at a local football game in Albania, was my dream come true, and though this is how I discovered passion.
I was drawn to football as a young boy, and over the years, my interest in this game has increased, and my taking part in soccer has upsurge substantially. For many years I have participated in this sporting activity day after day, week after week, and even month after month, and through these exercises, I have constructed an intense understanding of the game. My understanding and passion for soccer were stirred by Rolando, or in his nickname, the "fenomeno," his character, technic, charisma, and his professionalism was what inspired me more, and I wanted to be just like him. However, I try to be resourceful and learn as much as I can from articles and newspapers, and through these, I can develop my own opinions based on the resources that I have been using. The accomplishments in my school work are also essentials, and this contributes widely to the widening of my scope on soccer and reveals to me that despite the different backgrounds, an individual can achieve success through hard work, determination, and, most importantly, through perseverance.
After we moved to the United States and the numerous challenges that come with the move and being the new kid in the school, I forced intensively on soccer. I made a cut for the school team, and through hard work and compelled by in-depth grown passion about football and my desire to be like my role model, I practiced even harder to be better at what I liked and what I loved. I forced on making a cut to the vanity soccer team, and I can undoubtedly say that my effort paid off. This team was my goal in high school since it had won two championships in a row, and I saw this as a stepping stop to further and greater things that could come through hard work and determination.
After securing a spot at the vanity soccer team, I worked even harder to make my position count. I had to prove to the team that I can be a great asset to the team. I practiced even harder, used numerous resources to develop different techniques that would be helpful to the team. Once in awhile watched my role model as he played and mastered some of his techniques that much helped me to contribute immensely to the team. All this hard work was fruitful since after joining the team, we have won the championship three times in a row.
I have, however, participated in numerous school activities both in the sporting and non-sporting, and through this, I have developed both my listening and communication skills. And taking the practical English course has played a significant part in helping me improve on my communication skills and helped me to articulate myself effectively verbally. And through the course to I have learned that the only way to succeed is to employ the same amount of determination like the one I employ in my soccer practices, and this has yielded success for me.
Outside of school and soccer practices, I help my parent out in the daily practices, and through this, I have learned the value of responsibility, respect, and discipline, which goes hand in hand with football. By employing these virtues both in school and at home, I have seen considerable change in my techniques during the play and helped me remain focused throughout
What I have learned most from experience is that through hard work and determination, we can accomplish what we set our minds to. The only limitation that a person has is himself. I have also learned discipline, respect, and personal goals are vital for success in any case and in everything an individual aspires.
