The O.J. Simpson murder case was a criminal trial which was held in Superior Court, Los Angeles. Simpson was accused of two murder cases. In the court, Simpson was represented by a well-prepared group, Dream Team. After 32 months of the casing, Simpson case was over. However, there was a lot of confusion about the kind of decision made. During the trial, the criminal court accused Simpson of committing murder while civil court made a different judgment based on evidence provided. In a criminal prosecution, the judge uses different laws which vary from other court systems in America. Due to variation in the judgment process, the court uses a different burden to prove whether a person is innocent or guilty. During the Simpson trial, the process was done with malice aforethought and premeditation (Sample). Therefore, for a person to be accused of guilt, the defendant must provide evidence to prove in a clear way to eliminate any doubt. On the other hand, in a civil court, the plaintiff is only required to show that the defendant had the intention or behaved in a manner that affects others (Rorie et al. 181). During Simpson's trial, the court accused the defendant of engaging in unlawful behaviors which resulted in victims' death. In this case, the weight of proof in a civil case was grounded on the evidence available. A small prove can be used to accuse how a person engaged in unlawful behaviors.

Due to high requirement, the criminal judges have a high tendency to set an accused person free due to lack of reasons when the jury join the matter (Rorie et al. 175). As such, the criminal court has rules which allow the jury to engage in a case. In a trial, the criminal court has laws which protect the defendants when subjected in a trial. In this case, Simpson was highly protected by the law against any illegal actions during the case, and the judge could not interfere with personal life. a civil judge found it more likely that Simpson was not the person who killed the two victims (Sample). Therefore, during a civil case, the jury is only allowed in some cases, but in most cases, it is the role of the judge to make a judgment (Rorie et al. 190). Due to this effect, the civil court does not have effective principles which are used to protect the defendants during a case.

In conclusion, standard proof and a jury trial is a key aspect that brings the difference between criminal and civil trial. In a criminal case, the plaintiff is required to provide enough evidence which will eliminate any doubt in the case. On the other hand, the civil case uses the available evidence against the defendants. Additionally, in a criminal case, the jury is allowed in a case. However, in a civil case, the jury is only allowed in some cases.
