Introduction
Writing is one of the best talents that every parent would want their children to have. My parents must have been very lucky to have born a child whose interest is in writing. At the start, I was doing it for fun but as it is currently, I have commercialized the art. Writing is not the hardest thing on planet earth but at the same time, it is not that simple. It calls for sheer devotion in terms of time. My writing career has not just been smooth. I have had issues here and there though I have managed to counter them. In as much as it is my hobby and talent as well, it is unethical to ignore the people who helped me through the processes. While I was growing up, I never knew that I would be a writer. In fact, I was doing was drawing and to some extent my parents were unsupportive. It took the efforts of my elder sister to convince my dad that I should be left to do what I was best at.
It was a matter of time and my parents had to change their minds and support me in whatever I was doing. After all, I was a young kind and all that was just for fun. It was shortly before I joined high school that my literature teacher recognized the special gift in me and began guiding me on the dos and don'ts when writing. That, however, did not last long as my time to join high school had reached. Due to the rubbish and laziness that comes along with peer influence and adolescence, I ditched writing. Little did I know that it was a matter of time before I could get back to it. The pressure of assignments and exams forced us as a class to form groups in social media where we used to consult one another in matters of academics. Since writing was in my blood, I used to write very nice discussion posts and responses to an extent that my classmates called me a philosopher. It is there and then that I discovered that I was sitting on my potential as a writer. From that time, I have never looked back and writing has been my thing.
My high school teachers used to tell me that if one does not read then one cannot write. To some extent that makes sense reading materials expands one's knowledge and thus has plenty to write about. Due to some reasons that I am not aware the reading culture has eroded slowly by slowly and is being replaced by music. In the recent past, I have developed a habit of writing with my headphones. The technique has proved to work as it helps me feel a bit relaxed and free to think loudly and widely. The lyrics in the music play a vital role in the choice of words while writing. While the technique is working, to some extent it is detrimental. In most cases, it happens that the lyrics are a disruption and the lyrics end up in the essay.
Another problem I face as a writer is the choice of the perfect topic for me. Even the famous bloggers have a specific item that they focus on. They say that it is impossible to focus on different topics and come out with good articles. I, however, find the notion to be misleading in a way. It is very boring to keep writing about one topic for one week leave alone a whole. I do sports, counselling, foreign affairs, politics as well as business. I enjoy what I do and up to now, it is paying dividends. It is very difficult to change and focus on one thing. The diversity has enabled me to learn new things and probably, more will come. My writing story has been full of ups and downs but all I keep doing is fighting another day.
