Introduction

Chasing Ice movie commence in 2005 as James Balog, a much-admired environmental photographer went to the Arctic for the duty of taking images as the confirmatory of earth`s changing climate which results in global warming (Orlowski 12). Balog was accompanied by a set of engineers to the Arctic; they take three years to notice and document the change of planet. According to Balog and his group of engineers who accompanied him, they found that the stay in the Arctic was very risky but also worthy since they were getting the information about climate change.

The documentary film of Chasing Ice was filmed in 2012 for the capabilities of a nature photographer. James Balog who was a photographer with his Extreme Ice Survey publicized the Chasing Ice movie to presents the impacts of climate change especially global warming in Washington (Orlowski 22). The Chasing Ice documentary was released to the public on November 16, 2012, in the United States. The key purpose of allowing the public to access the film was to be aware of global warming, glacier calving and generally the impacts of climate changes. The glacier calving event is the longest event, lasting for seventy-five minutes. It was included in the documentary, and this event occurred at Jakobshavn Glacier which was in Greenland (Nick et al., 201).

The key theme of Chasing Ice documentary film is impressive and educative. After watching the video, I felt so much shocked about climate change and the impacts of global warming. The film was surprising. I got surprised while watching the Chasing Ice video since it entails large visual dataset which was conveyed in a simple, presentable, and accessible way. More so, the documented scale of climate change of the largest glaciers in the Arctic made me surprised in the way it was displayed in the film.

Before watching the film, I didn`t know much about global warming or glacier since I had never seen how climate changes results in its occurrence. After watching the movie, Chasing Ice movie shows a glacial calving event that takes place in 75 minutes. It occurs when a massive chunk of a glacier breaks off to the ocean or sea. In the film, it was recorded, and clear and attractive pictures were captured when a normal iceberg around the ocean approaches the warm waters, but the process of glacial calving increases with high global warming (Nick et al., 236).

The Chasing Ice film significantly changed my point of view of global warming. After watching the film I learned that global warming has adverse effects on the environment and also it contributes to the occurrence of glacial calving in the seas. More so, I learned about the implication of global warming and how things could be messy thus changing my view on global warming. Since the Chasing Ice film demonstrates how global warming occurs; therefore, it is not reasonable to deny that global warming happens in a nation like Washington (Orlowski 29).

Most politicians in Washington possess the anti-climate change mentality since they consider acting on the changes in climate stands as a trade-off between long and short term benefits; thus it the difficult trade-off to them. As the scientists and how it has been presented in the Chasing Ice film, argue about the occurrence and how global warming occurs. Hence, the politician is aware of its occurrence, but they don't ignore their political powers, but those who care for global warming can gain political supremacy. To conclude, politicians who address the issue of global warming stance for a higher chance to be voted for. Also, the film provides a clear understanding of how glacier calving events occur in the sea as it is geared by anthropogenic global warming.
