Carl Marx views modernization in terms of the objectification of labor because of the new methods of production (technology). As a result, society becomes much obsessed with profit-making at the expense of what the laborer earns in return. Weber viewed society stratified in terms of economic classes. Therefore, he believes that a person's influence in society depended on his status in that society.
