Love is the most beautiful thing to have, the hardest to earn, and the most painful thing to lose. We always hope for the best from the people we love, but we mostly get disappointed by them. The purpose of this essay is to bring out that even if we get hurt by the people whom we love and trust, there is still hope for a better place in other people's lives.
"Go away," he shouted at her with a commanding voice. The love was lost between them. I felt sympathy for her because she still loved him so much. Kate walked out of the room with her head kept low. She couldn't believe that it had come to this point; her husband disrespected her in front of their kids. You could see her trying so much to hold her tears back from overflowing. Kate's beauty was irresistible, even when she was in a sad mood. I often wondered why her husband was mistreating her like this.
Kate was my sister-in-law, and she was married to my eldest brother, Ken. They were so much in love, and I used to admire them each time I saw them walking together, holding each other's hands. We used to live together in the countryside in our parent's home. They had known each other for four years now. Their family was blessed with two lovely kids.
Things started changing from love to hateful. Ken had lost interest in her wife, or had he found love in another woman's heart? He became a wife-beater; he was no longer a caring husband. Whenever he was at home, you could always find him quarreling with his wife. The slaps quickly turned to fists. He looked like a monster. Kate started to distance herself from her husband. She could no longer take the abuse Ken was giving her. You never know what you caught till it's gone. Kate was fed up and wanted a divorce.
Kate petitioned for a divorce case in the court. She was fed up and wanted to live her life happily away from her husband, who became a bully for unknown reasons. Ken was, at this time, very ashamed. He regretted all the torture he had subjected her wife. Ken came home with gifts to entice her, but her mind was already made up. He could start telling her about the good times they had together, but Kate was not interested in them anymore.
At the court, I was the main witness because I lived with them in the same house. I was to testify if the allegations that were presented before the magistrate were true or not. On the day the judgment was being delivered, I was called to testify on the case. I loved him as a brother, but his actions were not justified. He was a bully. I used to comfort Kate every night after they had an argument, and for this, I was not going to support my brother. I gave my side of the story, and the judge ruled that Kate was granted a divorce, and my brother was imprisoned for six months for domestic violence. It was not easy doing this, knowing well; that my brother could end up in prison for his actions.
Conclusion
In conclusion, you never know what you catch till it's gone. Ken knew the repercussions of his actions late when his wife had decided that she did it want anything more to do with him. Love is the most painful thing to lose and the most beautiful thing to have.
