Introduction

In Lady Windemere's Fan, Oscar Wilde had Lord Darlington joke that a cynic was 'a man who knows the price of everything and the value of nothing (Wilde). From what Wilde mentioned, it has a significant impact on what society has to offer today. The book was authored in the year 1892, but the content can be felt more than a century down the line. In the current society, administrations, corporates, our media channels; basically, all the ventures people engage, seem to have been captured Wilde statement and that is described as Cynic. The idea has been transformed in the recent era, and people even consider ethical, moral, cultural, or philosophical values to be equal to fiscal and monetary value. These factors of discrediting the single attributes of what comes along with services from an ethical aspect, moral and cultural background, sounds unusual and sentimental. Sensible, rational, and practical are inclined to a different belief regarding the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Social media platforms serve people with information that's a useful attribute, but addiction and the damages caused require a lot of effort to undo. People have lost the true worth of involvements, riches, and standards courtesy of what people term as the norm. A more significant percentage of education systems are static and do not give the pupils and students a chance to think diversely. Kids who perform relatively well in school are believed to be a disgrace to some societies. Certificates and trophies are the standardized measures of success in the current community. Opportunities are limited in the long run because further education is never at the disposal of everyone. Organizations accredit better grades to better course lucky enough; they are well facilitated to pursue the route until a stable position where they can secure jobs. On the other hand, the few who perform relatively well are left to find their way in society.

Distractions have become an order of the current days. The disturbances can be accounted in the number of times the mobile phone notifications alerts one in the phone or whatever gadget, a feature that pulls our mind to another avenue away from the true calling and purpose. This makes the vast majority to live a virtual kind of life. Values have become distorted. What matters to people in the current society is virtual and how people view themselves from other people's eyes. Priorities are warped. It is in the same community that people will be greedy and find it ok paying a person to do them wrong.

Intimacy is created by people opening up, being vulnerable with each other, and connecting. In the current generation, many are the emotional manipulators who will take their time to know and understand their other partners. When they arrive at where it hurts most, they take no chance and cause their precedented damage. In sub-Saharan Africa, natural resources such as minerals and crude oils are believed to have a direct and indirect cause of violence (Vandewalle). Libya, for instance, since the era of Mohamed Gaddafi, destruction has been inevitable (Vandewalle). Libya has always fought over the natural fuels that are in abundance; it is the source of livelihood for most people, and the resource can control the economy of the region (Vandewalle). On that note, it is clear that lives, human values, and standards have been disregarded for the monetary value of natural resources. Libya conflict is one of the examples that confirm, "Nowadays people know the price of everything and the value of nothing."
