Introduction

The selected organization is hospitals and the theme is leadership. One of the reasons for selecting the leadership theme in hospitals is due to the rising need for quality care. Healthcare facilities are receiving patients with multiple conditions such as diabetes and blood pressure. Leadership is essential in providing the necessary directions to support healthcare workers to ensure they provide safe, timely, and efficient care (Lega et al., 2017). For example, in the era of coronavirus, the leadership of healthcare facilities is examined depending on their effectiveness in responding to the crisis. Leaders need to know the strategies they should apply in healthcare facilities to minimize the deaths and improve the welfare of frontline workers. Leadership also calls for the implementation of the Quadruple Aim which also focuses on the welfare of healthcare workers (Lega et al., 2017). The theme is thus essential in hospitals to provide much-needed support and management in the healthcare sector.

Research Methods

The best research methods to explore leadership in healthcare include observational trials and experiments. Observational trials are essential in healthcare to study large groups but in natural settings. One of the approaches of the trials is a longitudinal approach that provides data about a phenomenon over a long period (Snyder et al., 2016). For example, healthcare providers can study the changes in the cognitive decline from mid to late life. The study can focus on the diet and lifestyle factors and how they affect cognitive decline. The observational trials aim at establishing a link between the factors under study (Schweizer et al., 2016). The people who are involved in such a study are called cohort since they share similar characteristics.

Experiments involve asking individuals to take tests such as memory, reasoning, or attention. The results of the experiment are compared to establish specific patterns. One of the objectives of the experiments is not to judge the participants, but to determine a link between the results and other factors (Schweizer et al., 2016). For example, a person may be asked to fill a questionnaire about their feelings or level of satisfaction. Experiments can also be used to determine how people feel before and after engaging in an activity (Schweizer et al., 2016). The two research methods are essential to collect critical data in healthcare.

Leadership is essential in healthcare to actualize specific changes. Leaders are required to perform various tasks and engage various stakeholders. Engagement and action require specific data to be collected and analyzed. Leaders will apply research methods such as experiments and observational trials (Snyder et al., 2016). The purpose of acquiring there is to help them to make the best decisions in a situation. For example, leaders in hospitals can examine the level of job satisfaction among nurses working in ICU facilities.

The experiments or observational trials are important in providing the data healthcare leaders need while making a critical decision. For instance, if the results indicate that the workplace is in a horrible condition, the data will guide a leader to know the best solutions to enhance job satisfaction. Cases of medical errors are also part of the issues that research methods can explore (Snyder et al., 2016). The research methods are thus important to acquire data for decision-making among leaders.

Research methods, experiments, and observational trials are important in carrying out research studies in healthcare settings. Leaders need to research observational trials to understand the relationship between various factors. The findings of the research studies are essential in improving the quality of treatment (Lega et al., 2017). Establishing a relationship between causal factors helps prevent some conditions from occurring. For instance, healthcare facilities focus on reducing the number of hospital-acquired infections. The reduction of such cases is essential in safeguarding the lives of patients.

An observational trial will also help leaders to determine the relationship between factors and the strategies they can take to reduce the negative outcomes. Leaders also require large amounts of data to determine the quality of healthcare and the areas they should improve on. One of the areas they need to improve on is analyzing medical errors and finding out how the errors should be minimized (Lega et al., 2017). Therefore, the research methods are important in healthcare settings to boost the quality of care and prevent negative outcomes.

Analysis of Research Method

Research methods such as observational trials are important in the provision of healthcare services. They help leaders to conduct research studies to understand how to treat illness to increase the survival rate. For example, in the fight against coronavirus pandemic, healthcare workers are collecting data about the approaches that can improve the management of the condition. They are using data from various countries to compare how they have dealt with the pandemic. The comparison of the results provides a clear explanation of how various measures can be implemented in handling infected patients (Snyder et al., 2016). Leaders also gather essential data on how to protect healthcare workers from getting infected. For example, the types of caution they should exercise such as putting on the appropriate gear. Leaders also need to understand how to motivate the demoralized workers in such a crisis (Snyder et al., 2016). Therefore, research methods are important in the provision of care since they help leaders to understand a phenomenon and take the right measures to improve positive results.
