Introduction

In the film, I am legend the last person standing is Robert Neville, who is an ex-army soldier and also a scientist who is fighting Terrorism that is engineered against the United States in the form of a biological weapon and the Zombies. The plague that is politically constructed succeeds in killing most Americans in the United States, while some who were strong to oppose the biological viruses turned into the zombies. The enemies had sat down to make a biological weapon that would end humanity in the United States, clearing a way for them to occupy the land. The biological weapon (virus) was human-made and had a destructive motive (Clasen, 2010). It was made such that it killed people instantly or made people turn into man-eaters that would eat other humans. Once the person would turn into a man-eater, he or she would bite other humans, and the humans would turn into a zombie's creatures thirsty of blood. The movie falls a plot where the Western countries lure the Americans into providing medicine for cancer, that in the real sense, it had been manipulated to become a dangerous virus that would turn people into thirsty creatures. The virus is released to the enemies of the United States, the Jihadists who are determined to bring down the United States. They took that opportunity to destroy the country in suing the virus as the virus had no antidote at the time (Roberts, 2016). Those who would turn into zombies would only be treated by killing them so that they could not bite other people and continue spreading the virus further. This paper asserts that the spread of the virus in New York City in the I am legend movie was an act of Terrorism that was strategically planned to end the entire population of New York City. The paper will also explore the life of Robert Neville in a lonely state fighting Terrorism in action to rebuild a destructed country.

The Virus as a Biological Weapon

There have been many movies produced in the United States like the Seal Team, illustrating how a particular biological weapon/s were used to destroy people in the States after wrongful access to the biological weapon by the terrorists. However, these movies did not provide scary content like the one provided in the I Am Legend 2007. The film is produced in a time the world is living in fear of chemical weapons that are estimated that they can destroy a country in minutes and thus making the movie even scarier. The film begins by introducing viewers to Emma Thompson, a biologist engineer who engineered a medical solution to treat cancer; the medicine is later manipulated to become a deadly weapon. The virus mutated to an airborne disease that would, when breath by a human, interfere with the genes of a human being to turn them into zombies, and for the weak creatures, they would die instantly (Roberts, 2016). In the country, there were those people who were immune to the virus by virtue of the genetic who could not die or turn into zombies, and Robert is one of them. However, these people lived in a problem of fearing to be attacked by the zombies, and the jihadist had strategized the virus such that when one turned into zombies, they could bite other people. They would turn into zombies, so there was no chance of survival in the terrorist plan.

In their strategic plan, the terrorists had also made it impossible for researchers like Robert, who would try to find the cure of the zombies. The guys who would try to find a cure, having that they had no clue how the virus was developed, they will try to cure the zombies to make them human again (Roberts, 2016). The hard part is that the cured zombies were still primitive with zombie characteristics and features, and they were not able to leave their destructive world. They would always bang their heads against the glass plate, thus destroying the reconstructions of a new world. In this regard, the terrorist would leave the founder with the only of joining the zombies as he is not able to reconstruct the world for human survival.

Robert Neville a Soldier Combatting Terrorism

Robert is the main character, an ex-army soldier who is working hard to find a cure for the deadly virus that has swept his countrymen living only madmen who could not build a country and are ungovernable because of their thirst for blood. He conducts a medical trial on his genetic to try to find a solution to the madness that was brought by the viruses. The monsters created by the viruses are incurably giving Neville a hectic time in fighting them from killing him as he is the only hope that would politically and economically reconstruct New York and take it back to its economic independence and strength.

The director of the movie creates a ghostly ungovernable state that has no laws, and it is a man for himself as they fight for their survival. The expression of the Robert that no sign of another human remaining would help him to find a solution for the thirst creatures raises questions of the impact of the terrorists in a country.

The silly ghostly looking zombies in the movie show unintelligible figures of the society that knew no law or authority like the situation expressed in Thomas Hobbes's state of nature. The zombies look unaware of the state, and they are determined to destroy everything that comes their way. Robert finds heard to exist in that environment as the creatures were incurable, as when injected with the cure, he found they would only destroy the very world he worked so hard to rebuild (Moreman, 2016). They only leave him with a solution of killing them by shooting them with special burets or removing the behind metal walls that were their fortress a kind of homeland.

Government Corruption in the Movie

There is also an aspect of corruption introduced in the movie. The Brooklyn Bridge that Neville and his wife wanted to use in their run away from the virus is said to have cost $5,000,000 that the reporter states that they required 14 government agencies, each with their associates' members in contrasting the bridge. In the mind of Neville, the money was wrongfully used and would have done something constructive, like finding the antidote for the virus than constructing a runaway bridge (Lawrence, 2007). This shows that the government was also irresponsible and reckless and their greed enabled the virus to defeat them killing everyone.

Conclusion

The movie positions the world in dangerous times, leaving viewers thinking about what would happen if such a virus would attack the world. However, somebody watching the film in this decade would be wary of Corona virus, thinking of the damage the virus would bring to the world if it mutates further. The irresponsible government is unable to protect their people from dying because of the greed exaggerating the value of a bridge instead of investing that money to find a cure for the virus.
