How will one use collaboration and a proactive vision to create an effective intervention and treatment plan that would be different from "regular" or "common" practices in developing a treatment plan with the family shown in the video?
Use of collaboration draws the client's attention and urge to find out more with respect to the family issue. On the other hand, proactive visualization instills a sense of hope and brighter future expectations of the family members which ignites the urge to vent off the factors contributing to resistance. Use of collaboration and proactive visualization draws the attention of the family members creating a two-way communication which is critical in family therapy.
How might one use a collaborative approach to address the concerns the parents have for their daughter, who may be considering suicide?
Collaborative approach tends to extra the feelings of a family member with regards to the challenging issue. However, proactive version complements collaborative approach in establishing a two-way communication between the two conflicting sides (Madsen, 2013). Since there is limited evidence with regards to the suicidal thoughts from the teenager and the parent has a right to worry over a suicidal teenager in the house, each side can be considered to bear a valid account of their behavior.
What types of resistance or reluctance did you observe in the case study video, and how might one attempt to address these using the suggestions from Chapter 3?
The case study presents two clear types of resistance with denying and arguing standing out distinctly. The client acknowledges that there is nothing that can be done to change the state of matter. Kalia also disregards talking to anyone arguing that she has enough to bear that no talking could help. Addressing Kalia's problem entails engaging her within the responsible interaction pointing out the exceptions to a no problem stance.
How did the social worker integrate the importance of diversity and difference into his practice of designing an intervention with this multi-stressed family?
The social work takes into consideration the diversity in the parents and the adoptee. However, the difference in age and reasoning are used to drive the paries to talking out their frustrations.
How can the social worker continue to advance the human rights (gay families, foreign adoptees) of the family in the intervention stage?
By allowing the gay families interrelate and talk openly on their status and the intriguing issue creates a sense of understanding and respect among the family members. The foreign adoptees may also get it hard to interact with their multiracial parents with a feeling of denial reflecting. By bringing the two parties together and using some of their happy moments as a family can greatly impact on the restoration of normal behavior.
