Introduction
In the modern corporate world, an organization comprises different people who work towards achieving a specific objective. The team is made up of both leaders and employees determined to achieve the purposes of the group. Therefore, an interpersonal approach is applied to encourage healthy relationships and coordination at work (Harms, 2011). Interpersonal communication is necessary within the organization as they are used to establish and sustain meaningful personal relationships in various places of work. Workers with practical interpersonal communication skills such as self-awareness can develop healthy relationships with colleagues, thus working effectively towards achieving the organization (Harms, 2011). Therefore, this paper discusses the effects of self- awareness on interpersonal communication in the Workplace.
Theoretical Description
Self-awareness is considered one of the essential factors that stabilize interpersonal communication practices in the Workplace. It helps individuals in the Workplace become more comfortable with themselves, thus relating to colleagues with genuine kindness and confidence. The connection between effective communication and self-awareness in the Workplace is understood at deeper levels since it makes individuals feel the value and importance of themselves in the operations carried out in the identified places of work (Marrone, 2014). Through developing self-awareness, leaders can identify themselves as employees and why they have to work with others in service delivery. Self- awareness helps the leaders to realize their strengths, and thus work on the areas of their development opportunities.
Analysis
Sense of Self
The concept of a sense of self is an appropriate idea needed to determine the detailed application of self-awareness. The essence of self is realized in the occasion where the individual becomes aware of themselves on how they behave, feel, and general traits. Nearly, a sense of self is the psychological condition where an individual's self is considered the main focus of attention (Harms, 2011). Thus, the self of sense develops into self-awareness that is necessarily applied in strengthening the working environments in an organization. A sense of self shows the personal identity that one sets within the working environment (Harms, 2011). A sense of self makes the employees establish a reasonable expectation for employees to create similar characters, even when at work. Therefore, every worker should know they have to their own identity through a sense of the self-concept.
Relationship
Since the Workplace is made up of different individuals who work on achieving a specific objective, human beings' actual nature, being naturally social creatures, contributes to healthy relationships with colleagues. Healthy relationships with the colleagues at workplace result in several benefits since they boost teamwork and interest to work together to achieve the organization (Harms, 2011). The right relationships are applicable in career development since they create more awareness and trust among colleagues in workplaces. Therefore, the right relationship can only be developed excellently through proper self-awareness approaches that work on trust, mutual respect, and open communication.
Ongoing Psychosocial Adjustment
In the Workplace, the idea of self-awareness is also applied in realizing the possible psychosocial adjustments. The psychosocial adjustments encountered in workplaces through self-awareness are defined as the psychosocial accommodation of an individual to transitions or events of life-altering capacities (Siegel, 2012). Some of the developing Psychosocial adjustments individuals record at their places of work through self-awareness practices are essential since they dictate moderate the personal triggers initiated. The identified adjustments are also applied in the context that they support the ideology used to recognize the triggers or styles and adjust responses in an appropriate way. Also, the leaders' adjustments would be applied in the organization for the purpose on improving their leadership skills and performances (Marrone, 2014). The self-awareness psychosocial Adjustment would be used to recognize that other workplaces are established on the values aligned with different attachment styles in organizational stability.
Faith or Spirituality
In the context of self-awareness, the identity of an individual is aligned to a specific faith practice. Faith or spirituality at workplaces comprises different aspects, such as a sense of community, meaningful work, and organizational values. The Workplace belief intends to interconnect the experiences encountered in the past and develop trust among employees in a specific way that would result in promoting the organization into a much more productive environment (Clinton & Straub, 2014). The context of self-awareness in faith or spirituality is considered as the organizational value or framework that is evidenced by the culture that promotes the experiences of employees that are transcendence through a work process that facilitates the sense of connection, self-awareness, and relationships with colleagues in a way that provides the feeling of joy and completeness to be associated with a specific organization.
Therapeutically Interventions
The adults in workplaces would actively promote self-awareness programs by engaging in various therapeutic interventions to different degrees. Being self-aware helps adults in workplaces to become much more realistic on the judgments they make about themselves, thus making others respect and trust through humility and lack of ego (Marrone, 2014). The larger workforce is much more interested in admiring and respecting oneself acknowledging their strengths and weaknesses and realizing the diplomacy they would apply to generate the idea used to stabilize the general purpose and interest in the work environment.
Overview of Possible Complications and Conclusion
Excessive application of self-awareness concepts results in other complications in the places of work. For instance, a leader who depends on detailed self-awareness would become too focused. When an individual in a position- location heightens self-awareness, they would possibly realize the much they should learn about the world and themselves. Through the interest of more exploration, complications develop where curiosity is sparked, thus making one concentrate more on oneself instead of the entire team instead of too much thinking on personal growth and oneself (Siegel, 2012). Therefore, even if the leaders apply self-awareness ideologies, they should also develop an interest in considering the entire team of employees in their assessment and promotion of the group's general work performances. In conclusion, self-awareness among adults in workplaces is encouraging since it actively promotes the team's productivity and the achievement of the organization’s objectives. Therefore, self-awareness is impacted significantly by the skills of interpersonal communication in the workplaces that are dictated extensively by self-awareness ideologies.
