Emotions, Attitudes, and Ethics – (CSR-Corporate Social Responsibility)

Emotions refer to the expression one portrays, depending on their mood or circumstances. When an individual is happy, they describe a good and welcoming atmosphere, but when they are sad, they show frustrations. According to the theories of traditional management, Decision making and individual functioning get influenced more by their emotions. Workers perform more in an organization when there are positive events and when the objectives get met. The mechanism for coping and psychological, physical, and cognitive functioning get improved when there are positive emotions. Positivity yields creativity, and one gets to have a feeling of satisfaction in everything they do (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 63). At Henry’s store, all the employees are satisfied with what they do and perform the job with much enthusiasm as if it were their job. Workers are dedicated and passionate about what they do, thus requiring less supervision or getting pushed around to perform a task. Since all employees hired have a profession in that field, this makes it easier to work with such individuals since are people who love what they do. The management also provides a pleasant working environment for all its employees, which contributes to their eagerness to go to work. The excellent relationship that the management has established with its employees makes them have a positive attitude toward everything they do. Emotional contagion is part of Henry's store where Gillian Stein, the CEO, portrays the job's positive emotions, and the rest of the employees adapt to it through her interaction with them (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 65).

Attitude may get influenced by either social learning or direct experience. Social learning is in cases where an individual gains an attitude from culture, family, or peer groups. Direct experience is when an individual expresses a certain attitude towards something that they have come in touch with (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 66). At Henry's store, both forms of attitude are present. For instance, the employees have a great passion for their job since it is something they like doing. The attitude toward the kind of tasks they perform is positive, which proves they need less or no supervision to perform their tasks. From them, direct experience brings about their positivity about their job. In the case of Stein, her job interest emanated from the fact that the job she does is a family business that she grew to like after being brought up in it and got to learn and enjoy what got done. Thus, her attitude developed from their culture and family.

When workers have good ethical behavior, customers get to trust them and always feel good when they are attending them (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 74). Henry's is a business where all workers know how to establish a good relationship with their customers. Ryan Courson, who is the store manager, informs that all staff members have trusted clients who ask to be served by them. It is a good indication that they have all establish a good relationship with their customers.

Organizational Culture

Culture in an organization gets to explain the reason as to why workers operate or the company function as it does (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 236). The kind of culture created within an organization dictates how individuals interact, share information, and in general, it depicts the type of environment created in the organization (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 238). Integrity, humility, expertise, and creativity seem to be the values of all employees at Henry's share. The values enable them to relate well both internally and externally. All employees at Henry's seek ways to better their customer trust by ensuring they not only sell them the products they are looking for but also to ensure they solve their problems. Due to the unique organization culture at Henry's, the conflict remains to be in their history, their marketability increases, the employees get satisfied, and their productivity improves. From our case study, the company gets said to perform quite well despite the accelerating market competition.

Artifacts refer to the observable expressions of culture (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 239). At Henry's, the store appearance is very eye-catching and designed to accommodate all types of customers. The counters at Henry's are open and airy, and their walls are decorated in an attractive way to catch the attention of all the clients who enter there. The staff isis also welcoming and move around to ensure their customers get served in the right manner. Staffs get to establish a good relationship with the community, which boosts the confidence level of the customers. A shooting gallery is also available for customers who want to have a test of the cameras before purchasing.

Leadership

A leader is a person who finds ways of accomplishing a particular task and goes ahead to summoning others towards the goal. Leadership, however, refers to allowing others to give their opinions, influencing others, and motivating them to achieve the organizational objectives (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p. 218). According to the trait theories, a good is born with leadership traits. The personality of an individual determines what type of leadership characteristics they possess. A good leader should be confident, should be optimistic, and should have originality (Nelson & Quick, 2020, p.219). A leader should also have various abilities like should be able to cooperate well with others, should be insightful, should be intelligent, and have social skills. At Henry’s, Stein gets seen to possess good leadership qualities; for instance, she has a "coffee with company" program that can bring all workers together. It shows that she possess social skills that make her get along with the workers. There are no conflicts nor cases of employees complaining of the management to mean they are well treated and respected. She is also an intelligent leader who knows the value of giving the workers freedom and not having to monitor them often. Stein has been optimistic and confident in becoming a CEO since she was a young girl, and she worked hard to achieve it.

Conclusion

From the above discussion, it can get concluded that an organization can prosper when the leaders and workers have positive feelings and emotions. Positivity is the key to achieving the company’s goals. Customers are attracted and motivated when the employees have good ethical behaviors. They can place their trust and loyalty to them. When an organization creates a good culture, employees get to have a good relationship with each other, and the leadership contributes to the success of the business.
