Introduction
The statement of theology is talk about God signifies concepts about theology. The word theology is from the Greek terms where 'theos' represent God while 'logos' denote word, thus giving theology its meaning 'God's word' (McGrath, 2016). Theology is studying religious ideas, historical advancement, mutual association, and application to life. It simplifies the broader and higher scope of theology in a technique that makes sense. The talk about God is extensive and entails, believers, God, and non-believers. The strengths of theology are that it creates an agape love we receive from God. The ideologies and teachings of theology adopt the instructions on how God loves us and the necessity to give in return that kind of affection. The activities Jesus Christ forgiving his oppressors is an excellent example of affirming his teachings. Also, the historical theology study is both subversive and affirmative as it shows how theologians are led astray by the age of self-image. It makes individuals attentive to the previous mistakes and the current methods that repeat itself; thus, history recurs itself.
Weakness of Theology Is Talk About God
However, the statement may limit God to human understanding as it is so simplified. The explanation is so simple that it confines God to human intelligence. Theology allows humans to give their perspective or opinion on God, yet the biblical teachings show that God is beyond human comprehension. Thus, the statement discourages non-believers from learning about God. Also, God cannot represent the object of theology, as He does not meet the scientific theory of empirical demands. The implied objectification of God and the lack of practical proof place theology in a challenging situation.
Similarly, talk about God omits religion as theology entails a deeper understanding of faith, religious practices, and beliefs that are not directly linked to God. It is the more understanding of God and our relationship with him and not merely talking about God through asking queries and discovering responses to them. Also, theology is on the immoral of the church and people. The conduct and actions of those leading the church have resulted in the questioning of church ideologies and teachings.
Christian Theologian
Yes, every Christian must be a theologian. A non-believer brings valuable perceptions on hard questions to make vital judgments and make assumptions of the Christian faith evident in the strangeness of their actions. However, the non-believer may not observe inner Christian faith dynamics such as the life of worship or prayer; then, it will be challenging for them to comprehend the motivation for theological enhancement. For instance, if an individual is a theologian, he or she will have to pray genuinely. Also, the theology idea of possessing a coherent and distinct structure is essential. Christian theology reputes itself as universal as it focuses on God's saving act applies to each period in history (McGrath, 2016). Also, it is considered as an understanding of God's saving effort in specific cultures and molded by the confines and perceptions of individuals pursuing to live the gospel within a precise context. Additionally, Christian theology arises in reaction to the community faith, which denotes commitment. Thus to learn Christian theology needs an individual to lose prospect of the statement that Christianity is about worship, prayer, and proclamation. It is these performances that lead to theology. Also, if a theologian does not pray to God nor proclaim the faith of Jesus, he thus does not understand the concept of theology.
