Introduction
Terror attacks have been on the rise in recent years. Terror groups are moving towards attacks on smaller groups of people rather than attacks on masses of people which have become more difficult to carry out successfully. Some of the terror attacks in recent years have involved suicide bombings, detonating explosives, and armed assaults. These attacks have been conducted successfully in countries such as Nigeria, Afghanistan, and Colombia.
Findings

A terror attack occurred in Aqcha district, Jabbar-e Shahid City in Afghanistan in December, 15th 2017. A vehicle belonging to Alaki Bai had an explosive device attached to it (GTD1, 2017). The explosive detonated killing Alaki who was an uprising commander. He was in the company of 6 other people, reported to be his bodyguards but they were only injured during the assassination attack.
Property that was damaged was estimated at less than a million dollars. Alaki belonged to the National Uprising Movement but no group came out to claim responsibility for the attack. It is possible that an individual or group felt threatened by his uprising.

In November, 27th 2017, assailants killed at least 13 people belonging to the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC) by opening fire on them (GTD2, 2017). This incident happened in the city of Magui Payan, Narino province of Colombia. The exact number of civilians who were casualties in the attack remains unknown.
There was no group claiming to be responsible for the attack. However, some sources have indicated that the National Liberation Army of Colombia could be responsible for the attack. The value and extent of damage attributed to the attack remain unknown.

Another terror attack in the Middle-East involved a suicide bombing incident.2 individuals detonated a vehicle filled with explosives at a security camp (GTD3, 2017). This incident happened at Mansura, in Shayk Uthman city found in Adan province of Yemen. There were 9 people killed in addition to the 2 assailants.
An additional 18 others who were either civilians or security personnel also got injured in the blast. The Islamic State's Adan-Abyan Province claimed to be responsible for the attack. Property of unknown value was damaged during the incident but the extent was not very significant.

One of the most gruesome attacks of recent times occurred in Borno State, Nigeria in October, 10th 2017. Nigeria is a country in Sub-Saharan Africa. This was an armed assault on Soldiers in the Nigeria Armed Forces (GTD4, 2017). The attack resulted in the death of 4 soldiers and injury to 13 others in the group.
No terror group claimed to be responsible for the terror attack. However, a terror group known as Boko Haram is suspected to be the mastermind of the attack. There was no property damage during the attack.

Another terror attack happened in Arjal City, in the Kunduz Province of Afghanistan on September 23rd, 2017. The attack was conducted by unknown assailants at checkpoints set up by the uprising forces (GTD5, 2017). The number of assailants killed during the attack was estimated at 21. 5 security officers also lost their lives during the attack.
This was only one of the many terror incidents occurring in Afghanistan at the time. No terror group claimed to be responsible for the attack. However, most sources identified the Taliban group as the most likely perpetrator in the incident. No property was damaged during the attack.
Conclusion
Overall, it is clear that terror groups have been focusing their attacks on smaller groups in recent years. They have conducted successful attacks in countries such as Afghanistan, Nigeria, and Colombia. These attacks have been in the form of suicide bombings, explosive detonations, and armed assaults. Hopefully, there will be new methods to combat such terror attacks in the future.
