Impact on the Productivity

The study shows that colors have an impact on the productivity rate of an individual and their performance. An example in the classroom is the fact that students do not like to see a graded test that is covered in red ink (Eaton & Tieber, 2017). It shows that they have failed it, and there is a need for corrections.

The psychological properties of color majorly reveal the electromagnetic radiation of light on human mood and behaviour, which is universal. The bright colors have long wavelengths, are powerful and strong (Eaton & Tieber, 2017). It is such that when the light strikes the human eye, the wavelengths influence one's perceptions. They will prefer a certain thing because of pleasing colors and reject others because the colors do not reveal the actual energy.

Studies show that colors with low wavelengths like green and calming blue improve efficiency and focus. Red, as a high-wavelength color, can be active, intense and sometimes alarming (Eaton & Tieber, 2017). It is used to catch people's attention, and it can have both positive and negative undertones.

It is even difficult for students to make notes using the red biro because it is a color that increases the heart rate and can be used in cases where one has to draw attention. The color red may lower the productivity of an individual despite the fact that it stands out (Eaton & Tieber, 2017). It is a stimulating color, and it also functions to stimulate the brain. The reason why the professor will use red ink to circle on presentations is because those are the areas that need more concentration and corrections.

In most cases, students will make notes using a blue pen and not the black one because it is too dull and does not evoke the kind of emotion that is needed for productivity. Color blue I quite calming as it can slow breathing and also lower the blood pressure (Eaton & Tieber, 2017).

Mentally Stimulating Effect

The color stimulates one's mind, and this way, the combination of the calming yet mentally stimulating effect increases the productivity. Blue is the color to use in spaces where students need to focus and get the work done. In a classroom, students are expected to finish their homework early enough.

Another significant color is mellow yellow, and it is often viewed as being the shade of optimism because it is energetic and fresh (Eaton & Tieber, 2017). The color can trigger innovation, and it is best used for environments that require creativity and professional work. Students will work better in an environment with such bright colors.

A significant point to note is that just a single color may not do the trick of improving productivity in the classroom. The color for that function will be dependent on the type of learning that is going on within the rooms. This way, the institution can increase productivity by choosing the correct combination of colors that they will paint and design so that the benefits can be universal to all students. The color combination will include the specifics that inspire individual productivity.

Anxiety

Different colors change one's mood in a way that if one may be feeling anxious, they find themselves liking grey colors over the red ones. 36.2% of the people presented in the survey reports showed that that was true, 34.8% revealed that it was not true while 29% said they were neutral to these colors. 42% also said that dark colors in a room tend to make it feel smaller and make one not feel the most cheerful and may be suffocated. Purple color is a mixture of red and blue, and people mostly prefer it when in stressful situations. Generally, individuals with high levels of anxiety tend to prefer dull colors as compared to those with low levels of anxiety.

Color red definitely causes more anxiety because of its alarming nature. Statistics show that indicate 75% of students do not receive treatment regarding mental and remain undiagnosed, and 60% of the students drop out due to mental health conditions (Leonard, 2019). This way, anxiety may continue to hit and cause one to choose specific colors that do not trigger any changes.

Freshman's life has become significant due to secure access to things that were restricted during the past. Even so, 24.5% of some freshmen undergo these mental disorders as they become attached to new challenges and pressures. Pressures can be due to recognizing whether they are undertaking the correct course of study.

Challenges can arise as a result of being homesick because, for the first time, they are living on their own and under their schedule (Costa et al., 2018). Adapting to new workloads, classroom assignments and being able to live with new roommates can be challenges too. Therefore, in this paper, I try to analyse the issue of anxiety and Depression in higher education institutions, and its influence on mental health among students.

People in anxious states tend to prefer subtle colors and avoid any bright ones because they may negatively impact their emotions. Anxiety can persist long after graduation. In some cases, it is a matter of days (Andersson et al., 2019). Anxiety leads to negative emotions, such include loss of interest in hobbies and classroom activities.

The loss of interest in participating in operations leads to feeling doom and sad on most occasions. As a result, this affects one's studies negatively. There are ways in which these mental health problems can be addressed. First, talking helps one relieves stress, besides students who have been reported to go to the gym show less Depression and anxiety. Second, students who take exercises such as having walks, and jogging also have less suicidal rates and Depression since exercising helps clear one's mind off.

Depression

Furniture arrangement should vary from children of different age.

Most toddlers will paint better while on the floor while the fourth graders will prefer to stand or sit beside a table. These rooms should be well lit to facilitate enough transparency of the objects in the room. The creativity in designing the rooms should be extended outside the classes. The playgrounds should be equipped with different age equipment.

The equipment and grounds should be decorated with cheerful colors; dull colors are likely to destroy the moods for playing. Teachers need to pay attention to the individual needs of the children. Children of different range require a different level of attention. For example, a first-grader will need more guidance from the teacher than a third-grader. However, some students have personal needs that are not determined by their ages. Teachers should pay attention to every child to master their close needs.

In college, Depression makes one feel hopeless, and in most cases, he/she is tearful. Consequently, the depressed student feels worthless, and he/she blames him/herself for past mistakes and things that do not concern him. Depression causes one to feel less valued, low self-esteem about personal body issues, struggling to get good grades, and one is not happy with life leading to suicidal thoughts and mental health issues. Depression leads to sleep disturbances and having waving food appetite. A good percentage of Students undergo Depression after engaging themselves to relationships. Students who mostly likely go to the wellness centres have Depression due to lack of sleep and course work stress.

Campus students mostly are affected by people's impressions because they are young, and they need to fit in their new environment. This impact has led to students not wanting to seek campus-based counselling due to the risk of being made fun of and avoiding mockery. Statistics analysis made by (Rudick 2018) indicates that 75% of students do not receive treatment regarding mental issues; as a result, remain undiagnosed, and 60% of the students drop out due to mental health conditions. Mental health stigmatization affects the student's academic performance, confidence and both social and personal lives (Rudick 2018). Students tend to seek assistance from nurses and medical providers rather than mental health professionals to avoid stigmatization, which is associated with a psychological issue because of their conflicting ideas concerning psychotherapy.

Conclusion

In dealing with how different colors affect a student's mood, teachers in education centres can use various techniques to manage a creative classroom environment. Establishment of a rhythm opposed to routine, the teachers, should develop a changing rhythm for their students with an environment of calming colors that ensure that everybody concentrates on their learning and that they do not trigger any forms of anxiety or Depression (Hutchinson, 2015). These rhythms could be visual journals that act as entry and exit tickets to the classrooms. The journals could also have illustrated the start and end of lesson notes. Additionally, they should include sketchbooks, to-do lists, agendas, and note pages; all incorporated in the visual journal. The flexibility of the daily program of the visual journals will ensure the classes are lively and interesting.
