Feminist praxis can precisely be defined as theory and practice where in this case the approach is the functioning in the social world while methods are critical to achieve the set goals. It can also be described as an individual application of knowledge to fight the oppressive activities in the society. In the process of fighting for one's rights, the actions must be based in theory and law hence praxis adheres to the rule of law (Ackerly, Brooke A, 380). The theory is used to guide activism among those seeking interventions to address their rights based on the praxis. Feminist Praxis often consists of women trying to undo the existing oppressions in the society that limit their success and rights (Parisi, Laura, 580). Knowledge is necessary for activism to guide the ideas of all activists to be within the framework of the law. Feminist actions are essential to restore the rights and privileges of women in the world and therefore are used to request legal actions to be taken. Slactivism is necessary as the online step to create a positive change among women movements. Much feminist praxis requires fewer funds to operate but highly require participation and mobilizing actions.
After looking at the feminist praxis, what comes into my mind is the feminist interventions by UNICEF across the globe to protect the rights of women such as stopping FGM. An actual case is where one doctor had been reported for carrying out FGM on two kids aged six and eight years in the United Kingdom. It is clear that FGM is high in Egypt, Somalia, Ethiopia, and Indonesia. This does not mean women in the USA and other countries are safe, and therefore there are feminists praxis all over to help them to avoid the cut. In the UK one case of FGM is often reported within an hour, and this takes the right women activists to help curb the menace. FGM is associated with excruciating pain as well as trauma among the victims hence it is life-threatening. It is also a threat because it increases the chances of deadly complications in pregnant women by affecting the life of the mother and the baby. Feminist praxis had been educating women to eliminate the act because it gives them low status and further promotes gender inequality in society (WHO, 75). UNICEF had therefore created interventions that protect the rights of the mothers and children across the world and gave an upper hand in eliminating acts that are oppressive to women such as early marriages and female genital mutilation. Feminist praxis has the right to eradicate FGM because it is an old custom and also a violation of human rights.
