Introduction
The negative impacts act as a massive setback to the well-embraced success of feminism in the current society. The increased cases of discrimination and sexual harassment that are brought about by the introduction of feminism in the current employment culture (Bacchus, 2005). In most cases the women fear to air their rights in the workplace, instead chose to give in to the demands of their superiors to ensure that they keep their jobs, and also earn job promotions. According to Bacchus (2005), bad women dressing code bring about most of the harassment cases. Feminism also results in the impact of continued discrimination particularly among the old female and pregnant mothers (Bacchus, 2005).
The change brought about by feminism in the workplace has created many difficulties for the women to balance both the work and household responsibilities (Harper, C. L., & Leicht, K. T., 2015). Handling both work and household duties together has resulted to increased stress level among the women thus reducing their productiveness since much of the productive time that should be used for performing office work is spent on solving other family issues. Harper acknowledges that this negative impact results to work absenteeism and lateness thus hindering the achievement of the organization's goals (Harper, C. L., & Leicht, K. T., 2015).
Graffiti acknowledges the occurrence of feminism in modern society, which has led to female earning equal status as men in the workplace (Ghorfati, A., & Medini, R. 2015). He identifies the various types of feminism earned by the women, for example, the radical feminism that believes sexism is eliminated by gender. Secondly, socialism feminism that helped to eliminate capitalism through the introduction of reforms. Ghorfati also identifies the various impacts brought a bought by feminism in the workplace such as changing the mode of doing work (Ghorfati, A., & Medini, R. 2015). Most cases, the workers had to carry their office work home for completion. These incidences occur due to the female worker's inability to balance work and household duties.
Feminism has failed since women tend to get more jobs in sensitive jobs, and feminists have failed to use this opportunity to protect and advocate for women employment even in the insensitive areas. It is evident in fields like firms, multi established companies and finance companies as well, where women often do tend to face more of a social and political issue, thus causing a pay gap." (McCarver, V., 2011). This is stating and confirming although yes, both genders face some discrimination when it comes to the workplace. However, there is still a gap encouraging in a sense that it is okay for women to pay less as long as it helps the greater good. You can also connect this principle of utility because in this sense in fields where it comes to established companies and firms it seems they both are just trying to find the greatest amount of people who would better suit the job better.
Chimamanda (2014), tries to declare the power of feminism and attempts to enlighten the people on the importance of social change in our society. She tries to define feminism in various perspectives as per modern society. This helps her point out the specific problems that the female gender is facing and how it should be addressed. She acknowledges how people can bring about feminism, for example, she mainly uses her personal stories such as her childhood experiences to enlighten people on the important social change (Chimamanda, N. A., 2014).
On the contrary, feminism has sufficiently advocated for equal rights and therefore, working to ensure that there is a substantial decline in cases of discrimination with regards to gender. The World Health Organization noted that aspects of biology, ecology, and society and their interactions create certain changes in the lives of both men and women in a given setting. However, the knowledge regarding these changes against both genders has been scanty in the past (World Health Organization, 2006). The organization adds that these factors extrapolate to work frameworks in which women are subjected to certain ripple effects, where they attend to more than one job, and in the end, they are under-rewarded due to their gender. Duverger affirms that efforts that feminism has done in addressing political participation, as well as women's rights in the present global dialogues and speeches for at least four decades, have provoked the establishment of fresh working programs that comprise both gender and treat both of them with utmost good respect that they deserve irrespective of their sex (Duverger, M., 2010). He further noted that such initiatives have significantly erased all kinds of discrimination that women have suffered.
The efforts of feminism have created robust propulsion of civil rights fronts through liberal feminism that amassed power as well as development in the history of the human race. The efforts of liberal feminism helped in addressing principles, problems, and thoughts that women were facing in society. Such expressions contributed to a great deal of awareness and realization of some of the issues that women were persevering due to the male supremacy to enhance the general conditions surrounding lives of women in the society (Evans, E. and Chamberlain, P., 2014). Feminism has promoted education and education-related opportunities in the lives of many women globally. The history of humankind distanced women from education which saw them exist with scanty or without knowledge that would have rather ascended them to greater heights of understanding their place in their societies. Therefore, feminism's major function was to emphasize on the grandness of acquiring knowledge in the lives of women in the world since education opens the greater opportunity of growth in both social and economic aspects of a given nation. Feminism's emphasis on education by lifting its level as well as hoisting literacy in women was an important move of heightening the productivity of women.
The gender-pay gap disparity although undoubtedly a very controversial topic still faces the simple fact of women continuing to get paid less. All of these theories have a major role when you consider the rightness and wrongness of each situation, virtues, and the morality when it comes to the greatest good for the greatest amount of people and when you try to apply this to why women continue to get paid less. However, studies and most of the articles and academic journals show that the pay gap has gone down significantly and discrimination between genders when it comes to employment has gone down significantly, yet there is still a major gap.
