Introduction
Crime and violence are individual experiences that uncomfortably occur in communities. Usually, people are exposed to violence and crime in various ways. There is direct victimization, property crimes and witness violence. Sometimes people hear about violence and corruption from other residents. According to Richard Hoefer and John McNutt (2017), abuse can cause fatal injuries or even be fatal. Individuals that survive violence end up suffering and enduring pain and sometimes go through the reduced quality of life and mental distress. When someone is repeatedly exposed to violence and crime, their negative health outcomes also increases. For instance, people that fear evil are less physically active. As a result, they do not suffer from self-rated mental and physical health (McNutt & Hoefer, 2017). Also, people that perceive their societies to have high criminal activities end up having higher mass index and obesity due to less physical activities.
Hoefer and McNutt, however, revealed that such activities require institutional correctional facilities like jails and prisons to confine felons that break the law with long-term jail sentences. As known, the jails that are managed by law enforcers often deal with offenders that have short sentences as well as those waiting for trials (McNutt & Hoefer, 2017). After this, the development and research program takes control of the corrections by changing the nature of practitioners. The reason behind this is because the correctional facilities need to be upgraded to improve inmate and staff safety and how the federal and state legislation affects security, safety, and administration procedures and policies.
Crime and violence have many consequences. Any victim of crime, end up suffering from eating disorders, depression and self-destructive characters. Suicidal attempts and thoughts also become possible in a way that can make an individual get addicted to drugs or alcohol. The idea that the victim has to undergo through pain is what makes him uncomfortable, especially the traumatic experiences when it comes to shaping the future (McNutt & Hoefer, 2017). The victim also becomes isolates themselves for they feel powerless in everyday activities.
As reviewed, the juvenile systems are established to mirror the criminal justice system, particularly to curb illegal activities. Commonly, in the young justice systems, the establishment is composed of four subcomponents and components based on the youth and the jurisdiction system (McNutt & Hoefer, 2017). The juvenile system has a legislative components feature when it comes to processing procedures for defining the juvenile delinquency and the youth. The juvenile system also separates the court structures, sentencing guidelines, non-secure and secure juvenile detention facilities, and status offences.
The juvenile systems work together with the law enforcers. Typically, the police are responsible for maintaining safety and safety by enforcing policies that detect, investigate and prevent criminal activities (McNutt & Hoefer, 2017). The functions are also entrusted with various regulatory and licensing activities. The police are public forces that go round the open spaces and marked areas with individuals that are on the uniform. The law enforcers are also the representatives of the government because of the police organizations.
Conclusion
Crime and violence are activities that take place in communities when there is a lack of control from the authority. According to Richard Hoefer and John McNutt, such that take place are controlled by the established juvenile systems in collaboration with the law enforcers. It is clear that when the government and law enforcers work together, then crime and violence will decrease.
