Introduction
In most cases, people believe that only accountants utilize Excel program. However, the truth is that people can use excel in their daily lives at home, work, and school. In our daily lives, we use excel in performing analysis, calculations, and visualization of both information and data.
At home, I use Excel in managing the daily expenses of the house. Through excel, I have been able to establish monthly expenses report. I have highly benefited using this program at home since I can easily track my spending habits. The spreadsheet program has helped me track my mortgage, clothing, personal supplies, car payment, and other expenses and even balance my budget. The program has been beneficial since I know what to buy in the house and at what time. Since I started using excel at home, I have always avoided overspending since I plan the expenses. In the past, I would not even track how I used my salary and would always be left with a deficit. Therefore, at the end of the year, I can know that year's expenses and can easily plan on the best way I will budget for my expenses in the coming year without many challenges.
In my workplace, Excel has been one of the most beneficial computer programs. Through excel, I have been able to create great charts using different formulas. I use the formulas then build graphs or pie charts for the business reports that I prepare almost daily. Basically, Excel has made work easier for me. Also, using conditional formatting has helped my supervisor and me to easily detect the activities I have conducted and even predict the activities that might take place in the future. The use of my excel data has enabled the business to develop future strategies, and I am always happy about the efforts I put in place to see the organization growing. Personally, excel has made my work easier at the workplace since I have been able to bring information and data from different files together in one location. Decision making has also been made easier with excel.
As a student, Excel has been beneficial to me since I use it in setting and planning my goals. In the past, I used to write my goals in a piece of paper that will get lost after a week or a few days then I had to write another one. After I started using excel, I can easily track my goals and highlight the ones I have achieved in a different color, and it is also environment-friendly. The other way I have used excel is tracking my classes. I have made a timetable containing my classes using the spreadsheet, and through it, I can easily track the lessons I have and ensure that I am not late. Through easy tracking of my classes, I have been able to manage my time efficiently. While waiting for my classes, I have time for engaging in other activities that are beneficial in my education.
Conclusion
In conclusion, apart from accountants, individuals can use Excel in their daily lives in school, work, business, and at home. At home, Excel has helped me to track my spending habits and plan. In school, I have used excel in setting my goals, tracking classes, and managing my time. Lastly, Excel has helped me prepare charts and graphs for business reports.
