Introduction
Recently, there has been various occurrence raising the public uproar in the involvement of the US patrol border and teargas use to attack migrant caravan. On 25th November 2018, the Border Patrol agents used tear gas to Central American migrants most of them from countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. In the events, according to details in the media, there was a planned peaceful march by migrants' "caravan" at the US-Mexico border around Tijuana as individuals attempted to cross the border. The event escalated into the US Border Patrol agents firing tear gas that spread for over a kilometer in a crowd consisting of hundreds of people seeking asylum, including women and children. The planned march was meant to demand asylum in the United States and protest about the conditions in the migrant shelters where the migrants were staying and wanted to be allowed to enter the US or speak to a representative of the President Trump administration and negotiate. According to some of the statements delivered by the patrol agents, a handful of migrants seeking to open a small hole in concertina wire at a gap on the Mexican side and some individual threw stones to US Customs and Border Protection officers.
Within the detail of the post by Independent, a 23-year, Honduran migrant Ana Zuniga is heard telling the associated press that the US border patrol agents fired the tear gas as some tried to cross the border. In the same occurrence on "The Washington Post", there are details about a tweet by President Donald Trump stating that migrants at the southern border until their claims are settled in court and will only allow those coming int the country legally. Moreover, there is additional information concerning reports by the CBC that all the crossing in the US-Mexico border were suspended after hundreds on Central American migrants fought past a blockade of Mexican police. Similarly, there are television footages showing hundreds of migrants storming into the US on the border after struggling their way past the officers. The agency suspended the vehicle, and foot crossing at the San Ysidro port of entry as a large number of asylum seekers had gathered in an attempt to apply for asylum in the United States. In other occurrences, the associated media press claimed that approximately 5,000 migrants had been camped around the sports complex situated in Tijuana in a series of caravans in the hope to apply for asylum in the US. However, the San Ysidro border patrol agents are processing less than 100 asylum petitions on a daily basis. According to most of the involved parties, the caravan marched in the attempt to deliver their grievances and make sure the migrants' plight was more visible to both US and Mexico government since Tijuana is struggling to accommodate the migrants.
Conclusion
To sum everything up, I become aware of the occurrence through a post by "The Washing Post" on 26th November 2018 and later saw it the television news as well as "The Independent Post" There are various uproars concerning the use of tear gas by the US Border Patrol agents. The method of chemical weapons is significantly discriminated especially in the events involving mass populations once launched, they cannot be controlled and may affect unintended parties. Although there are claims that the Border Patrol officials saw it necessitating to respond with the use of tear gas, I have different opinions against the use of chemical weapons (such as tear gas). For example, women and children (some of the children in diapers) came in contact with the tear gas, raising the questions on whether the use of tear gas is appropriate.
