Introduction
With the current globalization and rapid development in technology, today's classrooms have been made up of students with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds resulting in various emotional and social needs. Teachers, in this case, have greater responsibility in ensuring that all the students are participating in high- interest educational activities that are personally relevant. Notably, failure of recognizing and addressing students' unique background could in a large population of the adult population in the future who cannot be involved in global citizens. Most students normally find themselves in different learning schools and environment due to change in social, environmental, political and economic impact. For learning process to take place students generally require a greater level of emotional and social support and general understanding from the school environment (Illeris.p12). In cases where children from disparate social and cultural backgrounds are performing differently in any cognitive task, some of the support that can be facilitated to ensure good improvement involves the following.
Recognizing and Responding to Such Needs of Students
In dealing with diverse socioeconomic backgrounds that are resulting in various emotional and social needs, it is important to highlight the diversity of one's classroom to the students. This can be facilitated by teaching your classroom the meaning of diversity and how it is demonstrated in their own classroom. Basically, this can be done by giving responsibility to few different students who are identified to be representing the diversity of various groups and create by value by teaching other students on how each of those students is actually adding value and playing a unique role to the classroom.
Getting to Know the Students and Building a Relationship With Them
By ensuring inclusivity and bring a solution to where there is conflict as a result of students from various cultures and socioeconomic background, it is important for teachers to be inclusive with their lessons plans and get to understand and even know their students from an individual level. Developing a personal relationship with the students will not only make the students share their opinions but rather it will create a great bond and trust hence helping them to manage diversity in the classroom concerning the issue at hand. This can also involve gathering information about the nature of the general difference and how the difference can have a greater impact on the general process of learning.
Putting in Place Arrays of Various Learning Tools
There exist various learning students' learning tools that technology has made available. Significantly, such tools are great leverage in managing diverse learning styles based on the profile of a student. Putting in place such tools in a diverse classroom creates an opportunity for teachers in meeting the learning needs.
