Introduction
A group comprises of more than two individuals who share a common interest and gathers together to achieve common objectives and goals. These groups can be either formal or informal depending on the setting. The formal clusters are established by the firm with the committed to achieving its goals while the informal ones are created instinctively the moment the characters mutually interact with each other. For this reason, a group is termed as formal when it is planned deliberately to achieve the firm's task and is created through formal power for some distinct resolution. Formal groups can be command crowd or groups whose functions are comparatively permanent comprising of managers including their assistants who regularly meet to discuss specific ideas to advance product (Phinney, J. S., 2012). The groups that are formal work usually under one supervisor though their structures vary.
While formal groups are developed by firms to attain some goals that are specific, informal groups on the other side are designed by the members like groups themselves. They naturally emerge in reaction to the collective wellbeing of organizational associates. These groups are shaped impulsively without any formal description and with conjoint interest like interaction socially, work assistance and self-defense. The informal groups exits outside the system of formal authority and it is deprived of any rigid rules that are set. Nevertheless unrecognized officially, they occur in the formal system shadow as a personal network and relations of social life that can be respected and understood by the administration. Unlike the formal groups, the informal groups are founded upon socio-psychological reasoning and provision is depending upon interaction, likings that are personal and communication of members within in addition to outside the firm (Northen, H., & Kurland, 2011). The informal group is compelling from the fact that if an individual of the crowd is dismissed at times, all employees go on strike to support their group member.
The informal crowds might have their followers and leaders, group objectives and working forms. They contain their own rules that are unwritten and a cryptogram of behavior that each member accepts implicitly. The informal group leadership improves from within, unlike formal election. A person who is functioning in a crowd for an extended period having a better understanding with other participants may rise as a forerunner because of their seniority and technical expertise. If any problem arises in the group either social or technical, the participants will drive to this forerunner rather than the supervisor assigned formally (Cummings, J. N, 2014). The formal group's assists the firm as means to the formal split ends as the informal ones offer social stability and fulfillment to the groups of work.
An instant of a formal group is that the interviewee was willing to join the committee group. This is a type of formal group in which individuals who are chosen by the firm to solve the matters that run in the organization. This group helps in formulating the procedure in which a firm is run thus helps in the smooth running of the firm. All this is achieved through the attaining the objectives of firms around the business sector. They form a kind of hierarchy in which the official matters of any organization is run through them. The similarity in this both groups is that the participants in the groups are the same.
These groups differ in some ways as one chooses which one to get involved in. The formal groups, in this case, are created purposely by the firm while the informal ones are developed voluntarily. The formal groups are eventually large compared to the formal ones that are small. This makes the formal groups to be sub-divided in particular groups. The system of the formal groups is aimed in a manner considering hierarchy while the informal ones do not have a system. The member's relationship in the formal groups is regarded as professional as they come together to attain the work that is scheduled for them while on the other hand in informal groups there exists a personal relationship among the participants as they share their thoughts and challenges to themselves. In the informal groups, the communication flow extends in various directions, as it is not restricted while the formal ones the communication flow is restricted because of command unity.
INTERVIEW
Interviewer: Tell me roughly your capability to perform under pressure
Interviewee: I would like to contemplate. However, I believe I respond to circumstances as divergent to stress. The fact is when correctly handled; many challenges evade becoming gratuitously traumatic. Emanate from reflecting, but it and I believe I essentially work best under pressure. The reason for this is that it helps me to yield some of the most significant work and to be frank I like being confronted.
Interviewer: Which type of group would you like to be part of in the firm?
Interviewee: The part of a group that I prefer to be linked with is the formal group. This is because this type of group is long lasting in the system of a leading team of management like the staff groups or the directors of the board providing dedicated amenities to the firm.
Interviewer: What bonds the groups?
Interviewee: The way people always communicate amongst themselves within the group is what brings the bond across the group. This is because it brings the members together sharing their common goals hence helping the organization move forward. The skills of communication also matter as their adaptations of these skills improve the way of interaction between the members.
Interviewer: What relational tensions have been present in these groups, and how were they solved?
Interviewee: Dialectics is among the tensions that have been in groups. An interpersonal form of communication that revolves under personal relationship and ties reflects on the group struggle. This kind of tension is solved through mutual understanding among the members of the chosen group. This helps to bring about peace within the group as it ends the collision that may arise between the members of the group.
Interviewer: How do the groups achieve success and celebrate the wins?
Interviewee: The groups achieve their success through teamwork and hard work. Cooperation among team members brings about success also in various groups. When progress has been achieved, the wins are celebrated in many ways. One of this ways is by appreciating through saying thank you. This comes out through a gathering of the group members to say it. The other way is by offering money as a way of saying thank you or by providing flowers and food.
FINDINGS
From the study, the interview questions are addressed adequately by the group characters, what characterizes the groups and the way the group projects are organized making them useful. As seen from above, depending on circumstances, groups can be either informal or formal. The workgroups are more focused generally on specific outcomes and tasks using processes that focus on achieving unity of action, communication, and purpose. The effectiveness of a group is also shaped by internal influence and the way of interaction among the members of the group.
