Frederic Chopin was born while his father, Nicholas, worked as a bookkeeper. His father later got employed as an aristocratic families' tutor in Warsaw. Nicholas' employment exposed Frederic to Warsaw society's culture. With the help of his mother, Frederic found his way into music at an early stage. By the age of six years, Frederic had the ability to play the piano and compose tunes, a factor that made his parents recognize his talent. Frederic's parents took him to Wojciech Zywny, a professional musician, for music lessons. With the help of his tutor, Frederic performed in elegant salons. Frederic enrolled in Warsaw Music Conservatory where he studied under Josef Elsner, a polish composer (Jonson, 70). During his childhood, Frederic learned various sounds of the national dances in Poland which include mazurka and polonaise. He composed his pieces using the piano only. His quest for broader experience in music led him to Vienna where he a performance debut in the year 1829. Frederic settled in Paris in the year 1832 where he discovered his style did not fit larger concert audiences. Through his connection with the Rothschild family, Frederic secured employment in one of the great Paris' parlors as a teacher and recitalist. An increase in his income expanded his opportunity for an improved living standard. He managed to compose various pieces such as the Sonata in B-flat minor, the Scherzo in B-flat minor and Nocturnes of Opp. 9 and 15. After his failed relationship with a Polish lady, Frederic managed to maintain his relationship with George Sand, a French writer. The troubles in his relationship with Sand made him visit Majorca where he composed various romantic music (Pekacz, 101). The significance of piano in classical music supports Frederic's influence on music. Frederic changed the people's idea on piano contents such as diverse tone, singing, brilliant and intimate colors. Frederic's influence on succeeding piano music writers appears to be inescapable and profound. He generated a range of harmonies, new colors and piano expressions which facilitated the expansion of musical expression.
