Introduction
The raw materials self-assessment aims to analyze, unearth and collect unprejudiced information about aspects of my character, together with the negative and positive attributes and traits. All people in the world have different personalities comprised of strengths, potential strengths, faults or bad habits, interests and core values. These characteristics are a cluster of my raw materials, and I will be discussing them objectively in this essay including qualities and shortcomings that have defined my life so that I can improve my weaknesses towards being more marketable.
I will start with my strengths and expound how these qualities have contributed to shaping my life. Strengths are good qualities including tasks and actions that you can do well. They can be congenital or acquired over time through training. I did my standardized test for strength and weaknesses online at the Strengthscope website and answered the questions truthfully. The results are very much a reflection of what I have thought about myself all along. However, it also made me discover some unknown traits about me and sought correspondence from family, friends, and employees for the sake of neutrality. Unsurprisingly, the majority of them agreed with the results of the test. One of my strengths is integrity which is characterized by taking responsibility for my actions and showing respect to everyone. Additionally, my loyalty is evident through faithfulness to friends and long term relationships spanning many years and self-discipline through overcoming desires and feelings that would result in instant self-gratification.
On the other hand, I also analyzed my potential strengths, and I realized many things which came as a result of posing questions to myself. Firstly, I have to keep on trying new things to know my strengths and weaknesses. Interacting with different people also helped me to identify some aspects that I had not initially observed. For instance, humor is a potential strength. I see the lighter side of things in most situations, and people are calm and relaxed when they are around me. Another inherent power identified by friends is social intelligence. Occasionally, I have been able to interact freely with people and can tell when one who gets along and one who doesn't after a quick observation. I can often sense the mood of the people in a particular place. I have come to realize that some potential strengths are innate and need to be tapped in by other people and can be intrinsically identified when you play up to something, and you feel you are enjoying the process.
I further delved into my faults or bad habits and used a combination of feedback from close friends and family, an online aptitude test at 123test and in-depth self-assessment. Some of the findings were that I am quite argumentative. Sometimes I don't admit when I am wrong and can be a devil's advocate for the sake of continuing with an argument which is my biggest flaw. Additionally, being overzealous is another fault as I seek to magnify even the smallest of details and have a great deal of expectation in most things. The drawback is that I often feel very disappointed when something does not go the way I had thought it would.
The process of identifying my passion and desires was a rather interesting one. I talked to friends, took an online interests test at 123test and had a session with a life coach. My self-assessment stemmed from the following eliminating money from the process, identifying my professional hero and critically thinking about what I enjoy by remembering what I loved as a child. I found out that I have interests in traveling to different places in the world, cycling, and hiking.
Looking into my personality, I used the Myers-Briggs type indicator. It focuses on how people perceive the world and how they make decisions. Self-assessment is based on my preference for concentrating on the outer world of people and activities, how I take in information on what is happening and assessing the logical consequences of a choice. My personality type is "ESTP" or "the doer" characterized by being outgoing and straight-shooting as well as being a risk taker, pragmatic and ability to offer innovative solutions to a problem. My coworkers' opinion was that I could get impatient at times but assertive when it comes to decisive matters and also has the ability to perceive people's attitudes and motivations.
Last but not least, I assessed my core values which are fundamental beliefs that I find essential. I used the online Life Values Self-Assessment Test (LVAT) to compare specific life values in order of importance. Assertiveness was top of the list as I relate sincerely to others, know what respect entails and have self-control. I value teamwork as collaboration within a group can help solve complex problems. The self-assessment test reinforced the values I knew all along. I also liaised with friends, and their view was that I am persistent, can be stubborn at times due to my "go-getter" attitude and determined. Their insight was entirely fair and unbiased as they know me quite well.
Conclusion
Conclusively, the raw materials assessment test has enabled me to learn more about myself. My strengths correlate with my core values as they served as a foundation for me to realize my strengths. My faults in being overzealous and argumentative can conflict when it comes to teamwork as it might rub people the wrong way. Being overzealous might come off as being brash and overconfident to some people, and this might hurt my ability to develop my professional brand. Additionally, my outgoing personality bodes well with my interests which are mostly outdoors.
