Introduction
Although most of the organizations have crafted banner vision and mission statements in inspiring their success efforts, most of the individuals do not have any vision for themselves. It is essential for human beings also to envision their success, visualize their performance, win, and make their dreams come true (Gergen and Vanourek 1). According to Aristotle, the soul cannot think without having a vision. Putting a good vision, and working towards its achievement makes us have a sense of achievement by being proud of ourselves.
According to me, the things that constitute a good life is improving human happiness and doing what makes life worth living. For long, I have realized that happiness does not just occur to an individual. Instead, there are activities that if I engage with can highly increase my happiness like being more appreciative. Happiness is a good vision as it does not only entail getting professional accomplishments but also a happy family life, community engagement, education, adventures, travel, and education. Doing what makes life worth living also entails living in the place where I belong, with the people I love, and doing the right job on purpose.
The accomplishments and activities that can lead me to a happy life include volunteering in my community. In most cases, helping other people usually make me feel good about myself and it brings some happiness. Expressing gratitude is another activity that can help me accomplish the vision of living a happy life. It is essential always to acknowledge the good in our lives and give positive feedback when it is necessary (Tsang et al. 65). Also, getting used to rejection will help me accomplish my vision. Typically, when people are rejected, they tend to feel low. This issue of feeling low might hinder my vision to a happy life by having low self-esteem and not believing in myself. Thus, I will learn to like and appreciate rejection. I will also keep learning new things as learning affects the well-being of human beings. Learning new things will expose me to new ideas and even help me stay engaged and curious. It will also give me a sense of accomplishment and boost my reliance and self-confidence.
The central values in which my vision for a good life will be based on include appreciation, believing in others, dedication, commitment, and caring. When we believe in other people, they will also believe in themselves and know that they can achieve everything in life if they stay focused. Moreover, being dedicated will play an essential role in making me live a happy life. In life, we must learn to appreciate ourselves and other people as it brings a sense of worthiness.
Past Experiences
I arrived at my current conception of a happy life since in the past, I have focused on things that do not add value to my life. Previously, I believed that having money is the essential thing in life. However, my perception has since changed since and I have learned the importance of being happy than being rich. My past experiences and mentor have shaped me to my current vision of a good life. Having a good job has also not been that beneficial to me. However, I have learned that being happy with the people I love makes life complete.
There is one event in life that made me change my vision from looking for being focused on money to leading a happy life. As the second born in my family, I never enjoyed my parents love as they were never present to show that love. As a child, it always feels good to be around your parents and make them pay attention to you. Unfortunately, this was a nightmare for my siblings and me. We never had a happy moment in life as both my parents were career people and there was no moment where we would sit together as we share our experiences or even eat. As a child, they made me believe that money is the most vital thing in life as they spent long hours looking for it. Both my parents would come home late and do not even spend the weekends with us. This experience made us learn to live our lives on our own.
Additionally, my high school teacher played an essential role in shaping my view of a good life. He used his past life experiences in explaining to us the importance of living a happy life. According to him, living a happy life entailed appreciating even the small things that we do or even other people do to us. Happiness is about appreciating the things we have and not wanting more. Through my high school teacher, I also learned that happiness is a choice that I can actively pursue. Approaching the things that happen in our lives both positive and negative with a positive thought is also a better way to a good life (Tsang et al. 64). Therefore, through my mentor and past experiences, I seek to live a happy life in any environment.
