It is in nature for humans to have the urge to get more money; we are hardly satisfied, which makes it hard for the available resources on earth to be enough for the population. (Coll and Marta, 221). Over the years, the rate at which the population is growing is not equivalent to the available food such as fish, thus the reduction of the fish and other seafood. Fish is among one of the most eaten white meat all over the world, making it a profitable business for fish distributor companies as well as fishermen.

The fact that people are fishing one kind of species is another major factor in the reduction of fish such as tilapia; this is the most common fish consumed all over the world due to the availability and the affordability of the fish, which makes it more lucrative. However, we should first take care of our waters to create a favorable environment for them to reproduce the ecosystem. For this kind of fishing to happen, they use radar technology that locates where the fish are as well as gets them out of hiding, which means that even the fish hiding deep on the sea level cannot escape the catch.

Our greed is the primary cause of all these; when we take care of the ocean's ecosystem, we enable the ocean to withstand harsh climatic conditions such as storms and the like. (Pikitch and Ellen, 474-475) Therefore overfishing should be stopped at all costs because if we continue down this path, we will be the cause of the death of the human race and nature.

As we all know, our body can withstand diseases, bacteria, and viruses due to our immune system's strength as opposed to a person with a much weaker immune system, which is the same as the ocean's health. By overfishing and pollution, we are weakening its immune system, leading to the depleting of the resistance of the ocean to disasters and climate change.

Overfishing has also led to the reduction of predator fish such as sharks, whales, dolphins, and the like at an alarming rate. (Coll and Marta, 342) We are causing the extinction of some species by our greed. When God created the world, he knew that he had provided enough for both the animals and us. He also gave us the responsibility of ensuring that we take care of the earth and all its inhabitants. That being, why can't we just let the fish be or at least stop being so greedy by fishing that which is enough and by helping the fish reproduce in a healthy environment.

In conclusion, we have a huge part to play in the survival of our planet and our fish and all the inhabitants in the ocean. Fish is known to be high in protein, thus the need in high numbers; however, as we increase in population, we should strive to reproduce the same amount or more of fish we catch. If we don't, we are doomed to creating a natural disaster that we will never be able to come back from, such as the major one, which is starvation for both the humans and the species.
