As a growing kid, Jane Picchi learned that many people like to consume organic food, where they mostly look for it in supermarkets. However, after looking at various departments dealing with organic food, she found that many people consume organic food thinking that they are free from chemicals, pesticides, and additives since they have labels about this idea. In reality, many retail chains and Walmart produce cheap and regular organic food products in large masses, which is not good for the environment and consumers (Picchi, p1). Even though organic food produced from the industry are not convenient because they are not real. In the industry of food organic food id the fastest-growing category, which is worth about $11 billion. Therefore, organic food should come when it is clean because of the consumer's health.

In the history of organic food, the production has changed from how food is grown and the increase in demand for natural food. One of the enemies of the organic movement is big agribusiness and the use of chemicals when farming. There is a change in big agribusiness because industries realized that there is a lot of profit from the business of organic food (Picchi, p 2). As the demand increases, consumers should be able to determine if the products have met the standards of being organic. In the recent years the standards have evolved, whereby currently they do not only regulate the small-scale business but also largescale businesses. Even though the standards have changed there is a need for producing food that has met all the standards and requirements of healthy food.

Another way of ensuring that organic food products are clean is through land protection from excess chemicals. Local farming requires less usage of chemicals in their farms, which is beneficial because of the health of consumers (Picchi, p 3). The use of less fossil fuel in organic food should be one of the goals for an organic farmer because it reduces pollution and creates sustainable food in the industry. Organic food is good for nutrition than conventional food because fertile soil produces more nutritious food and people eating the food are safe from synthetic chemicals and pesticides in bodies. People consuming healthy foods have good health, and the food is environmentally friendly.

Another benefit that many organic farmers do not use complicated farming systems hence producing clean products. Pollan states that these products are clean and meet the minimum standards of organic products. Consumers have will to pay extra cash for natural food that is produced but the people tend to lose faith in products that are not honest with their labels. Organic milk is one of the products that have to meet all the standards of organic products (Picchi, p 4). This brand allows people to consume organic milk at cheap prices. There is competition in many chains, which have started supplying labeled milk produce with vague standards.

A good agricultural policy should be implemented and have positive ideas and impacts on local and small producers of organic products. Picchi acknowledges that the food produced locally is not that sustainable or it is produced with less energy or in a better environment. They should also be accountable and be able to meet the organic standards that follow sustainable and good practices of farming (Picchi, p 6). To sum up, consumers should be able to identify whether the products they are consuming meet the organic standards requirements and all the farmers should follow the policies of producing healthy and clean organic food.
