The significance of immunization policy advocacy is that the community's healthcare watch, the nurses have experience in healthcare and therefore they advocate for an effective immunization program that is timely and helpful to an individual's lifetime health. The advocacy for a better immunization policy is significant in that it defends the rights and well-being of the local population at a national level (Huber, 2015). Besides, the advocacy is crucial because it is a powerfully backed by a larger organization with political connection and the ability to push political processes and hence enable implementation of any proposed change to an existing policy.

Technology is today very key to facilitating organized mass action through online campaigns for an anticipated change in the public sector. Technology facilitates faster sharing of information on the proposed immunization policy among the nurses in the US. Teleconferencing is one way used by the nurses to address the government health administrators in the US federal department of health about immunization policy proposal or amendment. Additionally, telemedicine, backed by technology is a key to monitoring immunization policy implementation in local hospitals (Simpson, 2002).

Conclusion

Understanding political processes matter a lot in all professions. In the cause of the nursing profession, the latter is pertinent in that registration and practice of the profession is regulated by the government through the legislative process. A nurse advocate needs to understand how the government works and hence be able to follow up implementation of a policy advocated for (Huber, 2015). A nurse should understand the importance of professional coalitions in moving to push for political processes.
