While delivering a speech during the United Nation's debate on climate change, Leonardo argued that the time has come to answer the most significant challenges of human existence on this planet. In his speech, DiCaprio challenged the whole world that the issue of climate change has been accorded a fictitious view and that it has been observed as if it is happening in someone else's planet (Goldenberg 29). He noted that by pretending that climate change was not real would not make it go away, but rather global leaders must rise to the occasion and help save the world from the effects of global warming.

In a report that was released by Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which was a landmark climate report released in late 2018, it outlines what would take place if the rate of global warming as a result of climate change is not curtailed to1.5 degrees (Goldenberg 29). The report further advises on coming up with a blueprint to check the effects of climate change by introducing new technologies that will help capture carbon dioxide from the air to help reduce global warming. In this report by Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, they suggest that this can cost far much less amounts than what is currently used to subsidize fossil fuels.

The report suggests that to stay under 1.5 degrees of warming; then the whole world need to divert to the use of renewable energy. This can be achieved by ensuring that two coal powers are phased every week. DiCaprio further notes that things like cooling, heating and even transportation will have to shift to electricity on a larger scale. In this manner, the use of energy will become much more efficient because the total demand will drop by almost a third. With the suggested in the energy system, DiCaprio indicates that this would help the world towards reaching its target of 1.5 degrees (Goldenberg 29). However, to achieve this, the most important thing that Leonardo DiCaprio suggests is that the issue of harmful emissions must be considered where carbon is sucked from the air.

Additionally, DiCaprio suggested that by planting more trees alongside protecting forests could help in the taking up of enough volume of carbon to assist in avoiding unproven and solutions from the research. In his words, DiCaprio states that the activities of human beings are the greatest threat to climate change. By ensuring that human activities like changes in the land use, most specifically large scale reforestation in tropical forests as well as reducing logging, it's possible to reduce the level of carbon thereby controlling climate change as a result of global warming.

It should be noted that one of the significant social challenges in dealing with climate change is the disparity that exists between the developing and the developed countries. This presents a very challenging cultural, moral, as well as technical problems in an attempt to deal with this problem of climate change.
