The rate of immigration usually upsurges before, during or after elections. Political stability means a lot on the development of a country. It is a political climate that causes conflict, riots, and demonstrations and great impacts on social and economic security (Corning, Dodin, & Nevins, 2017). Again, the effects of the unfavorable political environment will also lead to decreased agricultural production, displacement, unemployment, interference with social amenities and even religious conflict. When the affected country is unable to intervene or resettle the displaced population as well as restoring peace using its capacities, the chances are high that the victims will consider immigrating to potential countries.

Many immigrants have been subjected to challenges as a result of political climates in several countries. The most affected group are refugees who could be leaving their countries due to the adverse political climate.

Generally, the political climate can have positive or negative effects on immigration. There is a need for governments to transform their political strategies to ensure positive political environments. This would limit the number of refugees for instance. Apart from refugees, there are also immigrants who are pursuing jobs in certain countries. The international bodies such as UN should ensure that policies are put in place to control immigration. Reasons for immigration are not necessarily negative. It is a social process that will also come with its benefits. So the rules governing immigration should be modified to ensure that immigrations are smooth, but is control with some guidelines. Too much immigration could significantly influence the destination countries, for instance, if there are large immigrants who are after jobs, the native would lack opportunities and such could result in civil wars. Therefore, the regulations should enhance in favor of the immigrants as well as the destination countries.
