Globalization and the growing economy in the world today favour the growth of career opportunities in the business and financial and business-related occupations. There is a need for market analysts, auditors and accountants to counter the growing demand in products, customer understanding, and marketing strategies. It is estimated that in the next ten years, the growth in the business and financial occupations will have increased by 7% (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2019).
There are several avenues that one can explore in the business and financial sector; the jobs opportunities range from Accountants and auditors, Appraisers and assessors of real estate, Budget analysts, cost estimators, financial analysts to loan officers. There are still many more avenues that one explore. For one to qualify for the positions in the business and financial occupations, they need to have a bachelor's degree at minimum. The pay in this sector is also on the higher side with an estimated annual median of $ 68,350, which is above the annual median for all occupations (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2019). Thus it is an avenue that can be considered to lead to a dream job.
Management
With the ever-changing business environment in the local and global markets today, there are new organizations that are formed to explore business avenues, there are also expansions in the existing organizations so that they can take full advantage of the globalization. With these developments, it is estimated that the management sector will also have a growth of approximately 7% over the next ten years, translating to over 700,00 job opportunities (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2019).
Career opportunities in the management sector include Financial managers, Human resource managers, industrial production managers, Computer and Information systems managers, Administrative managers and Marketing managers. The entry-level education for these jobs is a bachelor's degree in the respective areas. The wages for the occupations is the highest among all other professions, having a median annual wage of $ 104,240 (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2019).
Sales
In the business field, there is a need to maintain a good customer base. For this to be achieved, the various companies need to have sales executives that will connect the customer to the company. With globalization and the industrialization now, there are also new avenues for salespersons to market their goods, such as the digital platforms. Though the projection for the next ten years shows no significant growth in this field, the demand for the salespeople will be constant.
There is an opportunity to build a career in this field as Advertising sales agents, Sales engineers, Real estate brokers and sales agents, among others. The median annual wage for sales occupations stands at $ 28,180. The entry-level education required for this field varies with the job description ranging from a high school diploma would to a bachelor's degree.
Media and Communication
Communication is a key aspect that drives society. From day to day, people need to be informed on specific issues and happenings around them. The media plays a significant role in the creation, editing, translation, and dissemination of information to the masses. According to Hershberg (2016), the next ten years will see an estimated 4% growth in the sector, translating to approximately 27,000 new opportunities.
One can create a career in this sector as a Broadcast and sound engineer, An Announcer, Editor, Interpreters and Translators, and Public relation specialists. The entry-level education requirement is a bachelor's degree for most of the avenues. The median annual wage for an individual in this sector currently stands at $ 46,270 and is above the median for all occupations.
