In essence, love is what guides our spiritual lives. In 1 Corinthians 13:13, Paul indicated that love is the greatest spiritual gift. Based on this, it is evident that love is the goal in life. In everything we do and who we interact with, love must prevail. Most importantly, we have to love God. Practically, love gives us a clear picture of God. In 1 John 4:7-8, the bible states, "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." Also, in the same chapter in verse 19, the scriptures say, "We love because God first loved us." This shows that who God is and what we are in him.
