Introduction
Faith and Love are important human qualities. Faith is described as the complete trust in something or someone. On the other hand, love is a feeling of deep affection. As Christians, faith and love are the first things we learn from the Bible. Across the New and Old Testament, faith and love are often mentioned. Faith and love are connected. Faith saves love in a way that through it, Christians can accept God as their savior. The paper provides a discussion of the concepts of love and faith according to the scriptures. Faith and love are the most important virtues a Christian should acquire to the kingdom of God.
In Luke 17:6, Jesus says, "If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, 'May you be uprooted and thrown into the sea,' and it would obey you!" Besides that, in Hebrews 11:1, the definition of faith is clarified: "Faith is the confidence that what we hope for will happen; it gives us assurance about things we cannot see." In 2 Thessalonians 1:3, Paul indicated that "we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing". Besides that, when writing to the Ephesians in Ephesians 1:15, Paul gave gratitude by indicating that "because I have heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love toward all the saints." Furthermore, in his letter to the Colossians, Paul stated that 'We always thank God when we pray for you since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and the love that you have for all the saints' (Colossians 1:3-4). The holy spirit breathes life into a person. When it does so, the result is love and faith. When an individual has faith and love, it means that they are born again.
Faith and love have an invariable relationship. Faith and love are connected to the nature of salvation. By having faith in life, Christians look to Christ for salvation. Through that faith, individuals are saved and born again. Salvation reveals itself to us through faith in Jesus. Also, We may both faith and love with obedience. By possessing faith Christians learn to be obedient. The commandment of obedience is provided to us by God and we must obey it. In the scriptures, Jesus stated, "A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another" (John 13:34). Based on the assessment of the Bible verse, it can be said that true believers love one another and have faith in Christ. Christian's faith reveals itself in the form of obedience and salvation and to this aspect, God's unconditional love is the result.
The purpose of faith is to lead us to know God's heart and then trust in his ways to guide us in life. Hebrews 11:6 states that "For we come to God in faith knowing that He is real and that He rewards the faith of those who passionately seek Him." The verse provides us with the practical application of faith. Besides, in faith, the Bible constantly reminds us of our place in the vine. In John 15:5, the scripture says, "We are the branches, and we can do nothing apart from the vine." Even when praying, people need to have faith as God says in his scriptures that prayer without faith is as good as dead. This shows us that another purpose of faith is service to God. when a person grows in faith, they can serve the Lord more efficiently. It is important to "walk by faith" (II Corinthians 5:7) and not use our faith to get more from God who is already merciful. Even so, the old gospel tells us to count our blessings and name them one by one as we will see what the Lord has done. In him, we have all we need, and we are "complete in Him" (Colossians 2:10).
The purpose of love is to allow us to do the work of God. an examination of the Old and New Testament turns our focus on love and God's love. In Mathew 22:36, God said that we should love him with all our heart, soul, and mind. Through this love, we can manage to fulfill his works. According to John 14:12, the Bible stated, "Whoever believes in me will also do the works I have done, and even greater works, because I am going to be with the Father." In essence, love is what guides our spiritual lives. In 1 Corinthians 13:13, Paul indicated that love is the greatest spiritual gift. Based on this, it is evident that love is the goal in life. In everything we do and who we interact with, love must prevail. Most importantly, we have to love God. Practically, love gives us a clear picture of God. In 1 John 4:7-8, the bible states, "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." Also, in the same chapter in verse 19, the scriptures say, "We love because God first loved us." This shows that who God is and what we are in him.
Conclusion
Undoubtedly, faith and love provide the direction for Christians. Based on the assessment of faith and love, it is noted that love is the result of faith. The two virtues enable Christians to develop a deeper relationship with God and grow their ability to trust him. Agreeably, God houses faith and love. As outlined in the Bible, God needs Christians to have faith and love to manage to seek his love forgiveness. Overall, in the spiritual journey, faith and love ought to be the part of every Christian.
