Communication skills trigger effective communication. With effective communication skills, people express their idea verbally or non-verbally resulting in clarity of the subject matter. Communication skills entail; listening habits and speaking habits. Listening habits include note-taking, maintaining eye contact, gestures, and facial expressions. Speaking skills include; being audible, body movement and tonal variation
The hiring committee is engaged and friendly in that; they are openly welcoming the applicants and giving them adequate time to express themselves. The interviewer is very audible in that none of the interviewees asked for a pardon. Again, the hiring committee is maintaining eye contact to capture the ideas given by the applicants.
The applicants have a good physical touch, neatly dressed, and good appearance and presentable. They are confident that they are maintaining eye contact with the interviewer. They are audible; they clearly express their ideas with the hiring committee confidently by giving their point of view towards the subject. They left a good impression with the hiring committee in that they gave the hiring committee an easy time to be interviewed and they were ready to answer every question posed to them accordingly with courage and a high degree of confidence. They openly expressed their ideas according to the way they perceive it as put across.
The questions showed a high degree of skills they are based on analyzing, accounting, teamwork, and administration. Whereby analyzing requires a keen observation of a phenomenon and undermining to get clear and sensible reasons as a result of the outcome. Accounting now involves skills like analysis of financial statements and financial ratios essential for decision making. It is a critical skill to show how one commits them to handle deviations. Teamwork involves gathering people and influencing their morale to effectively coordinate their efforts for effective production and achievement if the set goal. Business administration consists of centralization and decentralization of resources, authority, and power with a view of ensuring even distribution and allocation of resources following demand.
The questions contained more information to be researched hence expands the applicant's level of thinking, thereby increasing their knowledge and experience in different fields. With all this, the applicant can now relate the question to the real-life situation. This will lead to the endurance and survival of the applicant in this competitive environment.
The questions also involved problem-solving skills which, is of most importance in that people will have a planned way of solving challenges that come their way. Being equipped with adequate problem-solving skills enables people to thrive even in the toughest times of their life. An example of a question is; Define teamwork?
The answers were relevant to the questions asked. The respondents were bubbling with ideas to give the right responses according to the questions posed to them. They tackled the issue of how they perceive it in real-life situations. An example of a correct answer is the definition of teamwork as working beyond differences to achieve their goal.
My suggestion is, for an effective interview, the respondents should be willing to reply and should give the highest degree of integrity so that they give correct and valid answers to the interviewer. Some skills are attached to good responses like being eloquent. The interviewer should also be friendly to the interviewee to influence the morale of the interviewee to give honest answers.
