Introduction
Technology has for the contemporary society speeded up the rate and instances of communication between individuals as well as increasing the efficiency of the same. The emergence of social media has facilitated this, with aid from video conferencing, emails, chat messengers, the use of emoticons, symbols, and video calls, which has eased access to one another. This has, therefore, led to the lack of physical interactions due to the shift to an online or virtue-based interaction (Pols, 2017). This has proven to persist in the future, with most of the technology-based firms continuing to invent more efficient and faster means of virtual communication. This has in the larger context decreased the human contact, especially through denouncing the traditional intimate and personal-based communication channels. Therefore, the technologically enhanced socialization will in the long run dismantle the primary principles of interaction and socialization.
Disadvantages of Technologically Enhanced Socialization
Technology has affected the psychological stability of the population. Major technologically enhanced socialization channels such as the social media have emerged to be a place of show off. According to Antonucci, Ajrouch & Manalel, (2017), these channels channel lies and deception, which elates some of the members of the society, while demeaning others, who cannot afford or have access to finances or assets used in the show off. This has led to the outgrow of the stereotyping and classification in the society to separate the poor and the rich, the right and the wrong, as well as the bad and the good. This has demoralized some of the society members to the point of experiencing psychological trauma and stress.
Additionally, the technologically enhanced socialization has damaged the emotions and love principles in the society. Data available in the online platforms have a significant effect on the behavioural and sociological effects on the consumers of such information. For instance, the justification and promotion of the previously condemned tendencies such as homosexuality, polygamy, and principles of sex have immense effects on the behaviours and preferences of such consumers (Pols, 2017). Moreover, this has eliminated the courtship section in dating, where people meet online and decide to get married after a short period of virtual interaction. This has led to increment in divorce cases as well as the polygamy. This has led to the emergence of instances of deviance from the social perspective and the adoption of such new trends.
Consequently, the technologically enhanced socialization has enhanced social disintegration. This affects issues such as violence, social order, which entails feminism and the superior sex, and social control. Social control entails the behaviours that accrue to an individual after exposure to modern beliefs and concepts. For instance, feminism has emerged to be a major topic of concern through the facilitation of mass media and television, which has found its way into the society leading to increasing instances of sexual abuse and women torture.
Advantages of Technologically Enhanced Socialization
It has led to the emergence of diverse interaction and contact methods. Technologically enhanced socialization increases the probability of socialization in the society through availing an array of interaction channels such as the social media, emails, chat messengers, and other online channels (More & Lingam, 2015. These have also facilitated the ease of obtaining information on sensitive matters such as access and the need for essential services such as the police, day care services, and retirement homes. This has significantly assisted in reducing police brutality cases as well as increasing the quality of services offered in daycares as well as foster care homes.
Conclusion
In conclusion, the technologically enhanced socialization will, in the long run, dismantle the primary principles of interaction and socialization. This includes affecting the psychological stability of the population, damaging the emotions and love principles in the society, and enhanced social disintegration.
