Introduction
A business model is considered effective and efficient when it has patterns, designs, and strategies that improve its competitiveness. A business pattern is a common policy that can be implemented frequently by various business models in different environments. A pattern involves a series of noticeable, logical, and probable series of related activities, interactions, and events that are based on identified relationships that can be imitated, and they represent a reputable mode of behaviors. The business model design describes the value offered to customers by an organization. It indicates the abilities and resources required to develop, market, and deliver value to customers while generating gainful and sustainable income. A business model strategy describes how an organization develops, delivers, and gains value in the cultural, social, and economic setting. In the business model presented by part one of the business model canvas assignment, the various identifiable feature of pattern, design and strategies are seen. The paper shall evaluate the canvas business model while assessing the implications of Bolman & Deal's "Frames" and Morgan's "Metaphors" of an organization to understand its effectiveness.
Patterns
Advocate Christ Medical Center is an organization that has become the most significant emergency facility in Oak Lawn, Illinois. This is primarily due to the activities, events, and interactions that meet the demand of patients and an effective medical facility. The organization provides quality services that have led to recognition by the American Nurse Credentialing Center. Activities such as effective communication with the patients, management, and employees have created an environment that promotes teamwork, led to the development of trust among patients, and given workers a chance to share ideas aimed at achieving quality care of patients. Moreover, the clinical office manager ensures a constant flow of care by creating schedules, ordering office supplies, managing patient data, and ensuring the confidentiality of patient data and quality services are observed. This has helped to build a positive relationship with the suppliers, patients, and management. Training staffs ensure that quality services are provided to patients. Patients are also categorized according to their needs to hasten service delivery, and the organization consists of 12 sites that offer acute care services to the aged, and children (Pourabdollahian & Copani, 2014). All these aspects are the behaviors of the organization, and they add to the competitiveness of the institution. The pattern of the organization suggests the implication of the organization as a brain and a cultural system as suggested by Morgan's metaphors (Ortenblad, Putnam, & Trehan, 2016). As a brain, Advocate Christ Medical Center processes information, involves decision making, and promote learning among staff and community members. And as a cultural system, the health facility interacts consists of interactive people who share values beliefs and culture, as seen through teamwork.
Design
The abilities and resources required by Advocate Christ Medical Center to develop, market, and deliver value to customers include privacy, communication, teamwork, and an effective management system. The privacy of patient data is one of the most effective considerations in a health facility. This is because it contributes to the growth of trust between care providers and patients. Communication within the organization and between physicians and the patients helps in identifying various issues that may help to attain quality care (Pourabdollahian & Copani, 2014). Effective management ensures that all services are delivered in accordance with the set standards and the organizational goal of quality care is achieved. Teamwork ensures that staff and the management work together to achieve the objectives of the organization. In this case, the business incorporates the metaphor of instrument of domination, where all the services and decisions made are aimed at advancing the interests of a group of patients in the society, especially the aged and children, who are among the majority of patients (Ortenblad, Putnam, & Trehan, 2016).
Strategies
A strategy describes how an organization develops, delivers, and gains value in the cultural, social, and economic setting. The first strategy used in the business canvas model includes training of staff and community members, use of statistical application of data, categorizing patient's data with respect to their needs, and use of telecommunication, high-quality treatment with enough drugs, proper caring of hospitalized patients, ensuring patients' condition is stable before they are discharged, and application of online database to boost connection between patients and doctors (Pourabdollahian & Copani, 2014). Additionally, the organization gains value in the cultural setting by ensuring quality health care to all. In the social setting, Advocate Christ Medical Center engages community members in clinical and physical to improve wellness and promote health in society. On economic grounds, the organization uses media, websites, and newspaper advertisements as well as computer programs and reports to reach its consumers. The income generated results from ads, billing, insurance, and health governance. Advocate Christ Medical center can be categorized into two frames; Human Resource, and Structural frames (Vuori, 2018). The human resource frame emphasizes on giving employees the ability and opportunity to perform their tasks effectively. It has been achieved by training employees and allowing them to share their ideas that may enhance quality care delivery. The structural frame is shown by the ability of the organization to carry out its activities using technology, strategies, policies, procedures, and chain of command that coordinate the organization's diverse activities into a common effort frames (Vuori, 2018). The organization uses advanced systems to address diseases such as cancer, and have defined strategies and policies that should be followed such as confidentiality, patient satisfaction and quality care, which makes it fit in the structural frame.
