Introduction

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) refers to an American Immigration Policy that targets persons who are unlawfully present in the United States after being brought and raised in the country since their childhood age, and desire to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and gain eligibility to earn an U.S work permit (Patler, Cabrera, & Angeles, 2019). The policy restricts individuals who have been found of culpable of committing a felony or any serious offense against the law. As compared to the proposed DREAM Act, DACA is different such that is does not lead one to gain citizenship. DACA policy is an executive branch of the memorandum, and it was enacted into law by President Barack Obama on June 15, 2012. On August 15, 2012, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) started accepting an application for the program.

President Obama made an announcement on the November 2014, citing that his government intends to extend DACA to accommodate the additional illegal immigrants. Immediately, several states seek court injunction to prevent the expansion of the policy; consequently the policy was blocked by an evenly divided Supreme Court. While under Trump's presidency, the United States Department of Homeland Security withdrew the expansion of June 16, 2017, as they continued to review the viability of the existence of the entire DACA program. On September 5, 2017, President Trump's administration demonstrated its intention to wipe-out the DACA policy; however, its implementation was delayed for six months to give the Congress the opportunity to pass the Dream Act or consider the legislative protection for Dreamers. Unfortunately, the Congress failed to act within the time limit provided which expired on March 5, 2018, though the phase-out of DACA has been delayed by numerous court injunctions (Patler, Cabrera, & Angeles, 2019).

Facts about Immigration DACA

Analysts and policymakers have analyzed various facts that are associated with DACA policy towards the immigrants together with the country as the whole based on the influence that it makes.

DACA has offered an opportunity to many of the undocumented youths to gain access to the colleges. It is estimated that 65,000 undocumented students graduate from high school every year; this is high compared to when DDACA was not in place, where many of immigrant were not able to afford the huge expenses of higher education. DACA offered the opportunity for such students to receive in-state tuition fees, and make them eligible to apply for FAFSA as well as access scholarships (Muhamed, 2019).

DACA offered an equal chance for the undocumented immigrant workers. Since they were granted the legal working permit, DACA recipients gained rights to demand and receive fair wages based on the type of labor, therefore in boosted the social mobility and access to wealth of immigrant communities (Muhamed, 2019).

As per the American Immigration Council, nearly 71 percent of eligible beneficiaries are Mexican, followed by the North American and Central countries (including the Caribbean). Also, 6% are from Asia, 6% from South America, 2% from Europe, and 1% from other parts of the world (Muhamed, 2019).

The Black undocumented immigrants are considered to be the most vulnerable group. As mentioned by the Black Alliance for Just Immigration, similar to the African-Americans, the Black immigrants are exposed to negative outcomes within the different social and economic structure of the United States, without forgetting the country's mass criminalization and immigration enforcement regimes (Muhamed, 2019).

My Opinion about Immigration DACA

I firmly support the implementation of DACA policy, but with consideration that it will not affect US social, political and economic status.. Many types of research have determined the significant impact DACA have to immigrants who seek equal opportunity if education and work. The former president, Barack Obama made an imminent decision for introducing DACA policy as a means of giving an opportunity for the undocumented immigrants living in the US soil.

Students who get the opportunity to earn scholarships can become useful in the future through the quality education gained, while those who are talented will promote sports in the schools. DACA has an overall advantage of promoting social and cultural integration of people from the different regions of the world and making the US social devise country. Those who get working permit will contribute in establishing a business in the U.S hence creating job opportunity, while others will seek employment consequently lead into the economic growth of the country and contribute to the country's revenue. DACA will generally regulate the number of illegal immigrants and expose those who are illegal and undocumented, and they have no specific reasons being in the country

However, despite my support for DACA Policy, the government should not extend it to cover another group of immigrants. Strict regulation should be placed to ensure that no other groups take advantage. Robust actions should be taken to those who will conspire to fake the DACA documents to illegally benefit. The government should ensure that the human rights of the beneficiaries of DACA Policy are safeguarded; whereas their conducts and interaction with the local communities is monitored as they have to adhere to the policy and regulations.
