Contralateral Delay Activity

Contralateral Delay Activity (CDA) deals with visual working and memory capacity. This system is a limited capacity system which means only a small amount of information can be represented at a time. When electrode potential is measured in neurons during the experimental test, neurons fire potential above the action potential threshold. This revision and repair results to delay, which makes many cells to have a sensitive to remembered material position. Ruchkin and his colleagues discovered this in 1990. The bilateral presentation allowed the more specific study to show the difference between attended and unattended side. (Craik et al. 2017) CDA provided any evidence to enable psychologists to filter out irrelevant information.

Psychologists use CDA in visual working memory for investigations and visual search, multiple object tracking, grouping and in holding of item resolution. Other than that it also used in characterizing specific visual working memory deficits in a population. CDA is useful in the measurement of brain structure and neural function that determine the level of processing and enhancing it.

P600 (Syntactic Positive Shift)

P600 is a language relevant electroencephalography measurement used in both visuals and auditory experiments in reading grammatical errors and syntactic incongruities. One of the aspects of human is the ability to process complex information rapidly and to detect errors. After that, they cover the errors through revision and repair. Which supports there are functional differences in the processes shown in ERP. A recent study has shown that the scalp distribution is different even with minimal differences in gauging frontally distributed positive voltage in positive voltage ERP

Conclusion

In summary, since the discovery of language-related event in event-related potential component the level of processing, electrophysiological investigation of human has been used to support the fact of importance of ERP components in visual and auditory experiments, and brain function research exercises, positive syntactic shift and contralateral delay activity can be successfully used to study and understand the Level of Processing is thus crucial in neurological functions studies and monitoring.
