On 26th February 2019, became a historic day when the president of the United States on America and North Korean President Kim Jong-un met in Singapore to discuss the way forward towards the denuclearization of North Korea. The meeting may have yielded removal of the imminent threats between the two nations. President trump had threatened to start a war on North Korea if they continued to manufacture the nuclear weapons. Kim responded by alarming the Trumps administration that they had launched a powerful missile that could reach as a far as American continent. What remains unclear is the denuclearization process that the two heads of states agreed upon (Sang-Hun, 2019).

The meeting held in Singapore, between the two presidents did not have detailed terms. The meeting only discusses four main issues. The two countries vowed that they would renew their relationship that was on the verge of collapse. They also agreed that they would create a long-term peace regime on the Korean Peninsula. The issue of denuclearization was not left out, and finally, they agreed that both countries would collaborate in recovering the remains of the American soldiers who had died during the Korean War (Snyder, 2019).

In what seems like North Korea is abiding by the agreement, Kim has aided the return of the remains of the 55 solders that me their deaths in the American-Korean War that broke between 1950, and in 1953. However, the issue of denuclearization is still a hot potato. North Korea has made no significant step that shows its commitment to end its nuclear weapon manufacture (Sang-Hun, 2019).

The two heads of states did not make a comprehensive denuclearization process. Both countries have put demands that delay the course of action. The USA demands that the dismantling procedure should include the destruction of the available weapons, delivery systems and the materials for production. Moreover, The USA demands that President Kim should act with haste in the denuclearization process and give a specific timeline. Also, Trumps wants North Korean Government to disclose the locations of the nuclear plants But North Korea argues that the treaty can only be initiated if only the USA indicates its commitment to withdraw the troops from South Korea and carry away its fighting weapons such as long-range-bombers, aircraft carriers and other military equipment available in Peninsula Borders. Additionally, President Kim wants the USA government to lift all the sanctions that had been put North Korea, harness the diplomatic ties and provide financial support. Most importantly Kim's side will only initiate actions towards denuclearization if only America will adopt "you move fast strategy" (Snyder, 2019).

The biggest threat in the denuclearization talks is the mistrust between the North Korean government and the USA. North Korea is not ready to show any of its nuclear sites to the USA. Talks based on disclosure have always proved futile between the two governments. The question that pops up is whether the two countries will cut the deal. Some analysts argue that the deal can only be confirmed if only Northern Korea international sanctions are uplifted. The USA has been unwilling to provide economic incentives to North Korea (Snyder, 2019).

Conclusion

Trump and Kim show their commitment to facilitating the success of their talks on denuclearization. The success of the meeting will depend on the ability of both sides to represent their issues well. The Failure of the denuclearization program will result in massive economic losses on the Northern Korean
