Theoretical Perspectives
Eudaimonia Theory
The Eudaimonia approach states that individuals should always act on virtuous desires and the desires that are appropriate to other human beings (Ackrill, 2010). In the case of Green Leisure Center, the company's virtues strive to align with its customers. Among its virtues include purity. The company is built on a stable basis of integrity, with its business model supported by research and tested to ensure that it is viable and effective in the long run. Charity is another virtue associated with Green Leisure Center. The company is involved with some charitable organizations, and its support comes in the form of energy life lessons and providing free services to selected individuals from charitable organizations. Diligence is yet another virtue that has helped Green Leisure Center take advantage of the various opportunities, and protects the organization from venturing into bad opportunities. Kindness and humility make up the additional virtues of the company.
Given the fact that humans are sociable, it is apparent that virtues will require the support of a productive community. This means that organizations do not act as such communities since their primary object of desire and the crowd is money. Therefore, in a business context, it raises new challenges since organizations develop new roles for employees, as well as the initial obligations about these roles. However, there are ethical reasons why organizations act against the purposes of a single individual, and yet no procedures and processes for determining what is done in such cases.
Stebbins - Serious Leisure
The theory of serious leisure relates to Green Leisure Center. This theoretical framework attempts to reconcile the three underlying forms of recreation which include serious recreation, casual leisure, as well as project-based leisure. Within each category of leisure, there are some subtypes of leisure that have emerged, and the fact that the approach derives its name from the first of the three types means that the category is perhaps the superior one.
The serious leisure category involves the pursuit of hobbyist, volunteer, or amateur core activities that are not only substantial but also fulfilling and interesting. Therefore, providing activities that are satisfying the clients and interesting is the primary objective of Green Leisure Center. Among the activities offered by the leisure center include entertainment and sports, which are included in the amateur subtype of the serious leisure category.
Additionally, the other category of the serious leisure theory is the casual leisure category. This is the form of leisure that is instantly rewarding, and while the pleasurable activities involved do not require any special training, but are often short-lived. According to Stebbins (1992), casual leisure is regularly engaged in for the pleasure and enjoyment found in the activities. Among the types of casual leisure include active and passive entertainment, relaxation, as well as sociable conversation. These are among the products of Green Leisure Center. In addition to entertainment and relaxation activities, the center also provides individuals with a chance to interact socially with like-minded individuals from different aspects of life. Entertainment, a Green Leisure Center, is provided through a range of sports events, as well as a large sports hall where individuals can enjoy watching sports events.
