The speaker in the poem is the voice of a cat giving reasons why it feels not to be wake up and expresses its love to the owner and even promises to get a mouse for the owner.

The third poem He Listens to Sinatra, it is a poem that tells a story of a young man who nobody knows that well and besides all his shortcomings from not shaving his beards, his run-ins with the cops who pretty much know him by name, his failed report cards, and not knowing of what kind and smart soul he is that he would listen to Sinatra when alone. The speaker in the poem is a distant onlooker observing the young man.
