Introduction

Alexander Hamilton leaves his home as an orphan. In 1776, he arrived in New York where he meets Aaron Burr and other three friends. They share their groundbreaking goals for the nation. The three Schuyler sisters; Angelica, Eliza and Peggy, are seeking potential suitors. Hamilton and the friends are warned of the Congress by Seabury, but Hamilton differs. King George insists on his authority and his love for the people. Hamilton accepts George's request for him to be his right-hand man rather than a ground commander.

Hamilton meets and falls in love with Eliza Schuyler. Burr acknowledges Hamilton for his post as aide-de-camp to Washington; Hamilton is not happy with the position and prefers the battlefield. The continental army's condition worsens, Laurens is helped by Hamilton in a contest against Charles Lee who affronted Washington. Hamilton gets suspended by Washington provisionally over the duel. Eliza tells Hamilton she is pregnant and wants him to slow down and internalize what has happened in their lives. Lafayette requests Washington to take Hamilton who agrees but gives him advice as his actions will last ages to come. Philip and Theodosia, Hamilton and Burr's children are born. Hamilton is nominated as Secretary of the Treasury by President Washington.

Thomas Jefferson returns to America. He has a debate with Hamilton, reckoning on what to compromise to conquer over Congress. Hamilton has an affair with Maria Reynolds making him susceptible to her husband's blackmail. In1790, Hamilton, Jefferson and James make a concession. Burr is resentful of Hamilton's authority in the government and desires he had comparable authority. Burr shifts political parties and conquers Philip Schuyler, making Hamilton now an opponent. Later on, in a conflict, President Washington agrees with Hamilton making Jefferson, Madison and Burr join forces, and President George retires. George Washington abdicates, and John Adams becomes the second president dismissing Hamilton. Hamilton broadcasts his affair "the hurricane" destroying his relationship with Eliza. Later on, in a duel, Philip dies reconciling Eliza and Hamilton.

Burr has animosity for Hamilton for endorsing Jefferson in the presidential elections. He challenges him to a fight in an altercation of letters. Hamilton inscribes his last letter in haste as Eliza tells him to go to bed. Burr and Hamilton travel to New Jersey for the contest. During the contest, both Burr and Hamilton barrage at each other, with Hamilton deliberately missing his gunshot. Hamilton dies as a result. Burr dirges that even though he stayed alive, he is cursed to be reminisced as the scoundrel who slayed Hamilton. The musical concludes with a reflection on historic remembrance, presenting how Eliza preserved Hamilton's legacy alive.

How the Broadway Musical Helps Understand the U.S. History

Lin Manuel's' Hamilton musical is about Alexander Hamilton, the forgotten founding father. Alexander Hamilton was the first American secretary of state. Alexander arrives in New York from the West Indies and rises to serve as the Treasury secretary under President George Washington alongside the sex scandal that prevented him from being president. The musical culminates with Hamilton's premature death in a battle with a fellow founder and vice president Aaron Burr. America ever being a multiracial nation, it struggles to acknowledge its diversity till today. Immigrants; the blacks and Hispanics are used to represent the diversity and the slavery they underwent in the early American times.

Hamilton musical offers the blacks, Asians and Latinos the opportunity to represent themselves rather than using the whites in those roles in narrating America's origin. It portrays a group of marginalized individuals early in history. Slavery was an epidemic at the time despite the founders feeling bad about it; they kept their slaves anyway. They felt removing slaves would destroy the country. Lin Manuel resonates with the Americans of how they struggled to get to where they are. People wanted to leave a legacy before dying. They fought to survive no matter what the circumstances were taking Hamilton's case scenario and the friends.

Hamilton becomes a hero of the American Uprising, as George Washington's right-hand man. The musical details the governmental, economic and racial account of early America while denoting a bitter implicit interpretation on racial and social politics. Hamilton does represent early America historical facts, although some are much more emphasised. For instance, the epidemic of slavery was prevalent, but more emphasis has been on the founding fathers. Does that mean they were special for a given reason? We don't know. On the other hand, critiques feel there is a missed opportunity where the blacks work towards slavery abolition which Lin Manuel fails to include. Generally, the musical is a hit; it is intriguing to listen to. I did enjoy listening to it and would highly recommend it to someone.
