Introduction
Global warming is the gradual increase in the overall temperature when carbon dioxide and other chlorofluorocarbons are introduced to the atmosphere. The United States has experienced a gradual rise in temperature attributed to the greenhouse effect due to the emissions that have depleted the O-zone layer (Mendelsohn et al. 330).
The general corrosions have, in turn, led to catastrophic events witnessed over the past fifty years. Upon the presidential inauguration of Bill Clinton to power; he introduced taxation on heat content and called for lowering greenhouse gas emissions to lower levels. His attempts were also successful as the United States saw taxes imposed on fuel industries and also any institutions with hydro-electric generators that used fuel. The move was also supplemented by sanctioning energy-saving policies to be employed at personal abodes of all constituents.
The Kyoto-Protocol issued and signed in Kyoto Japan was meant to truncate the carbon emission footprint, but the Bush administration declined the agreement asserting that it was fueled by the need for economic and financial gain. However, the administration committed to reducing the potency of greenhouse gases emitted (Mendelsohn et al. 178). The initiative saw incentives remitted to renewable energy projects through subsequent reduction of fuel driven cars to the ones that used renewable energy sources.
The sequential administration proposed regulations in amounts of carbon dioxide released during transportation through its Clean Power Plan. Many countries thus adopted the policy of using efficient, clean energy and renewable sources for power. The standards were meant to mitigate pollution in the transportation industry, which is one of the contributors to effused carbon gases. France and many other nations including the United States agreed to provisions meant to lower pollution postulating that they would be involved in activities that prevented the global temperatures from rising beyond 1.5 (Dunlap et al. 13).
Conclusion
Scientists had indicated that when global temperatures reached 2.0, there would be cataclysmic phenomena including rising of ocean tides which bring about tsunamis and tornados. The matter requires all nations to cooperate in mitigating the increased carbon emission footprint because it is a result that has jointly been achieved. Every nation has contributed towards the occurrence of global warming and is, therefore, the role of every nation to play its role in reducing the catastrophe. However, the main reason why every country should step up in the situation is that the effects of global warming are felt universally. Farmers in various countries continue to use pesticides that produce chlorofluorocarbons that are proscribed internationally for being lethal to the environment and thus all governments should ensure prompt adherence to policies that obstruct environmental pollution.
