Introduction: Poverty and Discrimination in the United States

Poverty and discrimination in the earlier years were paramount in the United States as numerous households were made up of blacks and some whites. The need for equal living amongst the people became an immediate concern as numerous organizations, or powerful fronts were occupied with the white population. At the same time, fellow blacks resided to lower approved areas and lack many necessary forms of care. Both Booker T. Washington and W.E.B Du Bois were realists from that era who were intellectuals, scholars, educators, reformers, and influential of black origin who preached or vouched for different opinions but in the best interest of ensuring equity to all races, civil rights inclusion, and reduction in oppression against marginalized groups or races that made the America population (Hoffschwelle n.p).

Booker T. Washington's Views: Acceptance of Disenfranchisement and Social Segregation

Booker T. Washington was of the view that African Americans were to accept being disenfranchised by fellow whites and socially segregated since they lacked any economic progress and educational opportunities (Bell, Bernard, Emily, and James n.p). W.E.B Du Bois believed that slavery should be abolished and proper allocation of human rights for the blacks and other races should be of top priority and importance. I am, therefore, in support of Du Bois views who advocated for effective political action inlined with equal civil rights allocation and need to abolish racial segregation and slavery but to adopt a co-existing state where rights of black Americans are not overlooked for whatsoever reason.

He introduced the concept of double consciousness in which African Americans were required to put into consideration not only that of themselves but also the world view paying importance to what the whites have about blacks in all parts of their lives (Asumah and Valencia 56). With the help of the NAACP, Du Bois was able to inform numerous people on oppressions suffered by women and black culture, creating a continental endorsement for equitable human rights and his view on communism, which was an essential cornerstone in later years in America.

Conclusion

In summary, it is essential to put into consideration the fact that in America, the population making it up consists of numerous races, and each has a made for equity and proper legislation of their rights to ensure equal living standards. Black oppression has been a global initiative from the past in which slave trade was highly practiced leading to disruption of families and ties, creating an extreme society in which the rich oppress the unfortunate. As such, it is paramount that such actions be undertaken and proper civil rights and political stability be an immediate concern.
